Kirk Cousins Ranks As NFL’s Top Backup
Posted by Stephen Czarda on July 11, 2013 – 10:32 am

How about this for a seismic turnaround—not only do the Washington Redskins have one of the brightest young quarterbacks in Robert Griffin III, they have the best backup quarterback in the NFL in former Michigan State star Kirk Cousins.

Let's hope he doesn't get the chance to prove it in the regular season
unless the Redskins are up by 40 points and they put him in.

hah. That's a really bold list!

Cousins ranked ahead of much more experienced guys like Matt Hasselbeck and Matt Moore kind of had me scratching my head. I can understand it though from the perspective that KC looks like he could still end up being a starter somewhere.

Just looking at his stats from last year. I knew he'd had a good game against the Browns but forgot how clutch he was coming in against Baltimore. Not bad for a 4th round draft pick and a rookie!!

Truth. If we say adios to RG3INT this August, we're doing even better!

I actually think we have the best backup and 3rd string QBs in the league, respectively. That probably makes us the team that's deepest at the position.

Or did we cut Grossman already? I forget.

QB is one of many positions that the Redskins have good depth - we presently have 3 QBs - Griffin, Cousins and Grossman
we also have Pat White ... White might make the roster but I REALLY doubt he was brought in to replace Rex
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

No chance Pat white makes the final roster... IMO of course

We went from the worst QB situation in the NFL to the best in last year's draft.

Cousins is better than many starters and Rex is better than many backups. Griff is Griff.

Good to have quality depth at QB.
Cousins looked impressive when called upon last year.
