Casserly gets credit for most of the bad picks. Funny how the NFL Network always promotes him as the architect of the all-time great '91 team, even though that was really Beathard.

Good point. I had somehow forgotten what a mess the Desmond Howard pick was.

+1

He even shows a Sports Illustrated cover of the 91 win when they broadcast from his office.

HOWEVER, I do not think that he was the WORST. That "honor" goes to ...

...

drum roll, please,

no drum roll? then

...

Vinny Cerrato and Daniel Snyder "working" together.

Although the Haeth Shuler pick has been the most damaging single draft choice in our history, the thousand wounds created in subsequent drafts sent us to become the laughingstock of the NFL.

Glad to leave behind those bad memories. -drinking
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

i never thought much of DT Bobby Wilson.

I actually think Desmond provided more value than Wilson did.

I don't remember for how long but Wilson didn't play long. 3 years maybe; and he was a steady Darryl Grant type if I remember correctly. Not great but steady. I should probably look this stuff up, so i'll say IMO

RGIII and Alfred Morris will make the Best List.

Andre Johnson sticks out for me of those not mentioned. Did he ever play in the NFL?

In my book Johnson was hands down the worst draft pick in Skins' history and it isn't even close.

They traded up to take a player that failed so miserably that he never suited up for a single game. Not didn't play! He didn't even dress!!!

Shuler actually won a couple of games, and Howard at least scored aTD out two.

But a first round pick that never plays for your team and then is cut the next year.

TOTAL FAILURE!!

By the way, they passed up Mike Alstot for him.

I think you made your point ....
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

After the 1981 draft the Skin's signed a undrafted free agent named Joe Jacoby to go along with the picks.

Never realized he was an UDFA. Man...hopefully there's some players like that at the end of this draft. Also hoping Ray Ray is an UDFA...no risk signing him, all reward :)

Heath Shuler gets dumped on as a terrible pick, but I always wonder about quarterbacks... I mean, if Heath Shuler went to another team with a better line and a stronger running game, he may have been a lot better player. Not great, but maybe a decent backup.

It's also hard to fault a team for a guy who there was a lot of consensus around. When the Skins drafted Shuler and Desmond Howard... there wasn't any doubt around the league that they were quality players.

That's why I agree with skinsfan#33. Andre Johnson is a guy they moved UP to get and he still flopped.
