Quincy Carter at Training Camp...

Post by Redskins1974 »

A buddy of mine is at camp today and he swears Quincy Carter came out about halfway through practice and is practicing with the third team. He's wearing the #10. Can anyone else at camp confirm this? Not that I don't trust my friend but I just can't believe it.

He's probably pulling my leg. Who knows. I doubt he's right.

Carter couldn't have practiced with anyone today because he had to wait to clear waivers... No one put in a claim.

I wouldn't go that far. See Manley, Dexter.

Parcells put up with Taylor's off-field transgressions for years. It depends a lot on the player's talent level and position.

Hayes' drug problems really didn't arise until after his career was over, but you still missed my point.

I was refuting a point made that Gibbs wouldn't put up with a drug abuser.

Coaches, even great ones like Parcells and Gibbs, put up with a lot from their stars that would get a below average player canned.

True enough. Is this any different from the real world? Those who possess unique skills, talents, and/or wealth are often afforded greater latitude than those possessing less. Sad, but that is the way that things are. Apparently Parcells and Jones didn't feel like whatever Quincy did, was worth them putting their reputations on the line.

I just wanted to make sure that you weren't throwing any stones while living in a glass house with that Manley remark. I'm old enough to remember B.M. (Before Madden!) :D

Jeez, '74... With friends like that, you have to stay on your toes, my man ! You had me doin' a double-take.
Besides, I think QC is no cokehead. I think there was something else involved here. As stupid as this might sound, I think maybe Bill Parcells doesn't want a black quarterback.
There, I said it. Parcells wants a white quarterback, and he has one he's familiar with. He also has a so-so infielder as a back-up.
I have no proof to back this up. I'm born and raised in New York, though, and I feel like I have a good feel for Parcells.
Sadly, the legacy of Doug Williams doesn't reach all the darkened, dusty corners.
