TimesDispatch: REDSKINS NOTES

Post by ANT7088 »

THE BREAKS OF THE GAME: For defensive tackle Brandon Noble, all his breaks lately have been bad ones. He's coming back this season from a devastating knee injury suffered in the third preseason game last summer. Tuesday night, he broke his right hand on the first play of practice.

"I fell on it," he said.

Noble has a fracture of the third metacarpal. It will be 10 days before the bone begins to heal, but Noble probably will have a cast placed on his hand in about four days and return to practice.

FAMILIAR FEELING: Backup running back Ladell Betts has a strained hamstring and will be out for a few days. Betts hasn't had much luck in training camp either. Last year, he suffered an elbow injury that kept him from competing for the starting job. Wide receiver Taylor Jacobs is out with an abdominal strain but is showing improvement and is day to day. Wide receiver Cliff Russell has a strained hamstring and will be out for several more days.

FEELING THE HEAT: Yesterday was an unusually hot and humid day. Four players suffered from heat-related problems: wide receivers Darnerien McCants and Jafar Williams and cornerbacks Ade Jimoh and Rashad Bauman. McCants either deserves credit for going the extra mile or he was trying too hard. His problem occurred when he was running extra sprints, of his own volition, after practice.

WELCOME ABOARD: The Redskins added Dwayne Morgan, a 6-4, 300-pound offensive lineman, to the roster. Morgan, 30 and a Clemson product, played five games with Atlanta last year. He spent the five years before that in the Canadian Football League.

THANKS, NOW GET LOST: Rookie safety Sean Taylor has fired the agents, Eugene Mato and Jeff Moorad, who negotiated his contract with the Redskins and re-hired his original agent, Drew Rosenhaus. Taylor had fired Rosenhaus two days after the draft. According to published reports, Taylor is unhappy with his Redskins deal in light of the $20 million signing bonuses received by Eli Manning and Larry Fitzgerald, the first and third players drafted. Taylor, the fifth player taken last spring, will receive in excess of $13 million in bonus money.

Slight correction....McCants was running laps around the practice field as opposed to wind sprints. Afterwards, he looked a little tipsy (although he still signed autographs for a few moments). After 3-4 minutes of signing he grapped his head, muttered something and kind of walked blindly across the field, staggering as he went. The fans were yelling trainer as two of them walked right past him. Finally after making it 2/3 of the way across the field, someone came to help him. They called in the ambulance, but he was able to leave the tent on his own and climb in the cart for a ride back to the locker room.

Better yet, these newspapers should have a link to theHogs.net so fans can get the real poop.

The probable difference is that I was there and actually standing 3 feet from DMaac when he grabbed his head and started wandering off. This guy probably called someone who was there and asked them what they remembered.
