For Redskins, Tuesday Night Lights By Gary Fitzgerald Redskins.com August 3, 2004
Something about being under the lights, on a high school field, must bring out the intensity in football players. The Redskins conducted what Joe Gibbs called a "full-go" practice at an area high school Tuesday night--and it showed as players walked off the field with dirt and grass stains on their uniforms. "We had some real good work," head coach Joe Gibbs said. "It always fires things up a little bit at night.
"It was the first time we've gone full-go, so the players were all fired up out there. I told them last night, so they had probably been thinking about it for a while."
The intensity was particularly evident near the close of practice, when the team worked on red zone and goal-line situations.
When Ladell Betts scooted into the end zone for a score, it brought a roar from the players on offense; even assistant head coach-offense Joe Bugel pumped his fist in the air.
On the next play, the defense stuffed the goal-line play and cornerback Fred Smoot yelled, "There it is! There it is!" as he waved his towel at the offense assembled across the field.
On the final play of the practice, another goal-line run play appeared to be stopped just short, but offensive players led by Jon Jansen rushed over to a referee to argue the call. Replay was not available.
With the Redskins scheduled to host three regular-season night games at FedExField this season, Gibbs wanted to get players some work under the lights. Redskins Park, the team's year-round practice facility does not have any lights above any of its four practice fields.
"This was a change of pace," Gibbs said. "I do like to have a little work under the lights. More than anything, it gives us a long break in the day for some real rest."
The practice was closed to the public and only print reporters were allowed to attend. Video and still photographers were barred from the practice.
Laveranues Coles sat out practice to give his sore right toe some rest. Mike Barrow and Randy Thomas also sat out practice to rest sore knees.
That toe is going to be a major problem for Coles. But, since we are packed with good recievers, it may not become too big of a problem for the team.

Man, this upsets me. But I dont know what more he could have done. Yea, we have talent at WR but no matter who replaces him, they can't fill his shoes. He just brings a serious threat to any play, his hustle is unmatched.
i dont understand why coles didnt have his toe taken care of in the offseason...and its too late now to do anything about it....well i think taylor jacobs will get to show what he can do...and im looking forward to that...

Last year I was lookin forward to how Taylor would play. Darnerian mccants instead became the legit 3rd wide out, Taylor now has to prove something now to change my attitude in that he is a bust.
Cole streched the D. Whenever he is on the field the D must adjust to cover him - he's that dangerous.
I too am disappointed that he didn't take a more proactive in dealing with his injury other than rest and other non-invasive treatments. I understand that surgery would require 4 months to recoup - but afterwards you'd be in much better shape than he may be in now ...
or ...
knowing how Gibbs is, is this more of a show at this point instead of a necessity - to give our early opponents a false impression?, a little mis-information so to speak.

Looks like they'll be in the market for a new WR soon. Man, that cap hit will be tremendous. It's pretty obvious that the guy they gave a a zillion dollars too, will only be healthy for one of the seasons that he plays for the team. And that season was wasted a year ago.
I wouldn't be too concerned about the toe. It's going to bother him, but he will pay through it. It's definetly a good idea not to overwork him throughout training camp...

How many years have people been sayin our cap is gonna explode, and how many years have we kept signing players? This will never end cause we are smarter than 99.99% of teams out their when it comes to the cap. Coles will be a 'skin for a long time. Obviously you are not knowledgeable enough to speak on this subject.

I'm just worried because its just going to get worse. It doesn't matter if he's out there running with Dr. Schols on his toe, and an Army boot. IMO, I'd rather lose him for the beggining of the year and have him back midway thru for the playoffs because WE WILL BE GOING!
