Its clear we have weaknesses in the secondary. If anything we just need more bodys to throw in. At this point any solid help would be welcome.

I agree. I've never personally liked Hall, he's too much of a liability on the field. Anyone else notice last year and this year so far he CONSTANTLY tries to strip the ball instead of tackle? That irritates me to no end.

Like HEROHAMO said he is our best this year. We cant fill but so many holes. He will be gone because of the cap I would guess. We need two safety's and two corners. We still have a rookie on IR that might help next year.

I don't disagree...but it's very sad to admit this.

If fans want to criticize Mike for making the comment about "evaluating" players, then we can't at the same time cut D Hall to send a message. He's likely gone after this season, but cutting him now would be foolish. Besides, if he finishes the season with 4 picks in a string of wins, people will be singing Kum Bay Yah.

Talib and a 7th rounder... Why don't we jump on these things? Apparently though this guy comes with baggage.

They have tried to make moves like this...

And then most of you come on here and rip them for it... They're darned if they do, darned if they don't. They can't win with the short term memory of fans.

He had a good game but I still think he should have not been allowed to fly back with the team from Pittsburgh.

Also, isn't the team that got him (Pats) famous for having picks to spare? Probably got the 4th rounder for someone like Moss ... 2nd time around. Oh yeah, and they picked up a 7th rounder in the deal.

So they got Talib and a potential Alfred Morris. This allows them to make mistakes. The Patriots currently have a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and two 7th rounders as they also traded away their 5th for Albert Haynesworth, and their 6th for Chad Ochocinco.

we do NOT have the luxury to give up draft picks and especially not for players like that ...

we are not just a player or 2 from the playoffs - NE can afford to make mistakes

we have many positions of need and then we have to add a lot of players that provide QUALITY depth as well

the franchises with good depth do well when the injuries that happen take away your starters

our secondary (actually the defense) will get a lot of attention this offseason including both players and coaches

Hall will be looked at carefully and have to earn his spot just like a lot of others
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

totally agree with CLL - this NOT fantasy BS - this is the NFL

If you have to add players, add the ones that best suit, not necessarily the best player, like Cerrato & Snyder used to do here

But if he was released, it was more than likely determined that he didn't fit the scheme/direction of what the coaches were asking of him... So again...?

Right. Now's not the time to overreact and make a bad situation worse.

AGREE. As to the second paragraph --- need to add these players via the draft, which is why we need picks and can't afford to give them away.

Chris Luva Luva based on the secondary play this year is it too much of a stretch to think that MAYBE they are mistaken? I mean I dunno but I would think that if nothing else Kevin is faster and younger than say Reed Doughty. I mean Jesus we kept Madoo Doo and what has he done other than get smoked like a blunt for 80% of the time he has started??

How? seriously can you even say that? How many times has Reed been burned in deep coverage? Last I recall Kevin Barnes playing safety he was intercepting a pass to close a game out......I can't ever recall causing a fumble or even getting an interception. We know he is a fan favorite for him playing so well after Sean was killed but that pig don't fly no more......

Your point is moot... Merriweather is done for the year, if they thought Barnes was better than Doughty they would have already signed the FREE Agent and wouldn't have to cut anyone.

These kind of comments come from purple that don't actually watch Daughty play. He is far from our biggest problem on defense. If you ask me Madoodoo Williams is much more of a liability than Daughty.

Madoo doo is terrible I wholeheartedly agree but putting two safety's back there that can't cover is a glaring problem, I just damn sure hope Haslett blitzes Romo cause if not Miles Austin and Dez "I hit my mama" Bryant will have career days. I won't even think about Witten in that mix....

On August 27, 2012, Barnes was traded to the Detroit Lions for an undisclosed draft pick. [31] He was waived on September 18.

So I assume we can grab him... Not sure if that impacts our "undisclosed draft pick" tho.
I like Barnes and he's even had an interception as a safety... But on wiki it says he lost to Cedric griffin and that's Charles Barkley turrable..

Not sure he actually lost or was it a matter of choosing a vet over someone like Barnes.......I do think Cedric has played better recently as well.........

With a CB poor defense like the Lions letting Barnes, perhaps Barnes isn't as good as a lot of folks think he is.

The first Eagles game in 2011 was the time I knew that the Skins would cut Barnes. He was totally abused as the slot CB. That game was indicative of his slot play throughout the year which is why the Skins settled (and I mean settled) on C. Griffin as the slot CB.
