Washington vs. Denver - Hall Of Fame Game 8/9

Post by Tug_72 »

Well this is the game I have been looking forward to for some time, probably when I first heard that Coach Gibbs was making his return. I am personally excited more than ever to see this game. This has to be the happiest I have been since we went to the playoffs in '99. So, what are your thoughts heading into the game? Will the starters make an impact in only one quarter(or so) or will they need to play more than one game to get going? Does the outcome of the game really mean anything going into the regular season? Let's here everyone's thoughts!

Because it's such a meaningless game coming after only a week of training camp, I'm really only looking forward to seeing what Joe Gibbs looks like on the sidelines again!
Sit back and watch the Redskins.

SOMETHING MAGICAL IS ABOUT TO BEGIN!

I don't think the starters will play much at all and even if they do they will not have a huge role. Coach Gibbs will not run his full offensive scheme during the preason games. But I guess I really don't care because I will be extremely excited just to see how Gibbs looks like in his coaching gear as well as all the players and other coaches. I don't expect much of gameplan for this preseason game but it would be nice to have the team organized throughout the game (i.e. no false starts or holding penalties.)

It will just be nice to see some Redskin football again. I know the game doesn't mean anything, and I couldn't care less about the outcome, but I have been looking forward to this season more than any other since Joe left. I just want a glimpse of the new players, and for nobody to get injured.

I'll be at the game, thanks to Howiette of the Hogettes who got me tickets through Cory Raymer.

There may not be that much to watch in the way of starters, but that's not really significant... this is the official game time return of Joe Gibbs.

I will also be hanging out at the HOF all day Monday as Howie is being inducted into the Visa Hall of Fans and there are induction ceremonies that day. I'm looking forward to hanging out with all of the Hogettes for the first time and maybe I'll see some of you there.
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

I dont think that Gibbs is going to
show all his tricks. He's a pretty
interesting guy in that sense. He'll probably just run some standard plays, but i can promise this, he wont allow them to loose the game.

I have to disagree frank. I don't think Gibbs cares if we win or not. This is the right attitude to take in the pre-season when the games don't count. He will be looking at performances, and to see how well people are picking up the playbook.

I totally disagree too. He doesn't give two craps whether he wins preseason games as long as the team gets good experience out of it and is injury free. Look back at the years we won the Super Bowl. There was an 0-4 preseason in there and a 1-3, etc. He doesn't show any cards in the preseason. That said, I'm just happy to see him on the sidelines and our boys on the field.

Gibbs could care liss if he ever wins a preseason game... well, maybe the last one, but only in that it establishes a tone. He uses preseason to truly evaluate talent, and hone his sub units (O-line, D-line, etc). He'll show no wrinkles or trends... he's too paranoid to let anything out which might give an opponent any edge in game planning against him.
