Was at the game.....what a great effort by many players. Our d did their job in limiting the vikings to 9 when score could have been 21 - 0. Lorenzo Alexander had a great game...trent williams kept allen at bay....and rgiii....as long as he is our qb, we always have a chance.

For those who were not at the game....that stadium was loud the whole game....and on the rgiii td run, well, I have not seen the stadium rock like that too often these past 4 seasons....after the td, the chants of rgiii were deafening....

* Great to have a kicker that can kick a 50 yard FG with ease.

* RGIII? he is the read deal and proves it each week - Did everyone notice that he new when to run out of bounds and when to stay in. He learns fast. Weatherspoon's hit might be a blessing in disguise.

* Still concerned about Kyle's play calling especially that pitch to Morirs on 3rd and 1 on the drive (or lack of) before RGIII's TD. Late in the game, crucial 3rd and 1, the Vikes keep the ball in Ponder's hands. Isn't that what we are supposed to do - keep it in the QB's hands? I like RGIII's chances better than AM on a pitch.

On the 80 yard drive after the half, RGIII motioned that he wasn't getting the play through the headsets. The Redskins score a TD. Was he lying or telling the truth about not getting the plays? I think he was lying and calling his own plays so we could score a TD.

* Defense? Made key plays and held them to FGs early. Finally win a game in which the D scores a TD. We are 1-3. Ponder made some very high overthrows. We are lucky we weren't playing an accurate throwing QB. Speaking of accuracy, RGIII.

Still on defense - what's up with the cover out in the flats and shallow zone? This has been a problem since 2010.

Still on defense - Up 31 - 12, Haslett first play throw the blitz at Ponder and Ponder hits a short pass to the right flat and gets a big game. This is why we can't hold leads. Haz gets a big lead, he goes back to gambling. Blitz one guy and make sure all areas are covered.

* The formula for success - RGIII calling the plays, the defense coming up with just enough plays and stops to compliment a high scoring O.

In other words, we need to outscore folks to win.

The Skins need to slap the franchise tag on RGIII as soon as possble! HE'S THE MAN! Nice win and a good overall game for the team...I really have only 2 observations that were a little troubling....once we were up 31-12, the D couldn't make a stop and the offesnsive play calling was way too conservative...when we needed to keep moving the chains and running the clock, we were going 3 and out and putting it all on the defense. When you've got something going on offfense that's working you stick with it, even if you're up by 19...why let an opponent back in instead of finishing them off? That aside, overall, this team is showing more potential than I've seen in years....

ferryrich is 100% right on this observation. It was painful to watch professional DBs give the sideline when the object is to keep the player in bounds. The play I am thinking about was David Jones #35, of course I get why he was cut in the first place.

These are the small things that the better defenses take care of.

You can still hand it off to Morris, but a pitch? You're giving the defense a three yard head start. That had me scratching my head, too.

Coming into this game, RGIII led the league in completion % at 69.1

Ponder was second at 69.0

I'd say the D played pretty well even considering Ponder threw 52 times and completed 67% of his throws

Those are good stat comparison will cause me to rephrase my coments. While both RGIII and Ponder are close statistically, RGIII was consistentaly hittling that post, while Ponder was hitting a lot of underneath stuff. Kudos to the Vikes for playing to his strengths. The problem with Ponder was he was was missing horribly with overthrown balls and the one to Williams cost his team dearly. If he makes a couple of those, it's a different ball game.

The Defense made key plays and stops, but this is not the type of D performance that gets us to the play-offs. Too many yards and offensive plays given up.

Check out how many times we got burn't in the flat - receiver wide open. I still don't fault our players even if they are making mistakes in this scheme. To me the scheme is too complicated for the talent level on the D.

The D did play well enough to win, so for last night, that is good enough.

Whatever happened to defenses that forced 3 and outs, or at least forced punts? I was watching the Dallas/Baltimore game earlier and Dallas (who has one of the lowest ranked offenses in the league) never punted once in the entire game. They went up and down the field the entire game on a D that's supposed to be one of the best in the league...so it's not just our D that's not playing all that well....

I think our D played a great game. Not only did they score, but they gave RGIII the ball deep in Vikings territory, despite once again not getting any of the blatant holds right in front of the refs. Not to mention a couple of really bad interference calls, which could have easily gone the other way.

The defense demoralized the Vikings, they just couldn't score. When our new kicker put up 3 points i knew the deal was sealed right there, it was now just a question of time and the Vikings couldn't do anything about it. It could easily have been different if a couple of Ponders' passes had been lower.
Trent played a hell'uva game.
I didn't care for the those backfield setups but they seemed to work and coach claims they make RG3 more comfortable...okay by me.
Time for Banks to go. His role as punt/kick returner isn't producing, he can get the odd gain here or there like last week, but his use in the offense is too limited. He is just a safety net, if we have a bigger guy in there doing the same he could also protect RG3 and that, to me, is very important.
How about rediscovering a quiet pro, Mr. Santana Moss.
Who was that one receiver that i'd never heard of that came out, got wide open and just dropped the ball?
#15 Morgan? is that his name?, he is doing a good job acquitting himself for the major blunder against the Rams. I've been keeping an eye on him and the coaches are showing good judgement by keeping him in there, he made a key block on RG3s' last run and made some nice catches. Hes' a keeper.

I agree with you on the positives. They kept us in the game, they scored. But giving up three straight drives when we had a three score lead which resulted in two TD's and almost a third removes the "great" from the performance.

I loved hearing Robert breakdown this play in the postgame. The awareness and confidence that he has as a rookie is amazing.

Dez Briscoe, who we got off waivers from Tampa. It was his first game activated, because Garcon was out.

I kinda like that RGIII kid.

Lots of love to our defense this week. We've been dogging them for weeks, and they went out there and played with a lot of heart yesterday. LOVED seeing Lorenzo Alexander out there leading the way too.

Oh and I wasn't at the game, but the fans at Fedex really seemed like they made a difference yesterday anytime the Vikes were deep in their endzone or ours. Looked like an actual home field advantage for a change!!!
