Need to know who this guys are

Post by marykay271 »

I have a hat that is signed by former skins but I am not sure who they are. My husband says I am crazy, but I found it in a walmart shopping card and like the hat before I say the signatures.
I think the one is jimmie jones # 82 and the other is Rick something #50 World champs 81 91. Could someone tells me anything about this guys. are they valueable or just regular players.

From what I can tell, Jimmie Jones didn't exist and Rick wasn't of any significance. There have been four Jimmie/Jim/James Jones and none of them played for the Redskins...
I'm bored, I'm broke, and I'm back.

Wouldn't be Rich Milot would it? Wasn't he #50 in 81? Doubt he was around in 91 though.

Hello, all,

I thought "Jimmie Jones" sounded familiar...I remember him as a pass-rush DE, sort of the third-down DE, but had him placed on the SB 17 team.

No, but almost. I checked

http://www.jt-sw.com/football/pro/roste ... l/1971-was

which has all rosters and all stats. Couldn't find him on the early Gibbs teams, so I looked him up by name, looking for a DE. Then, bingo, lightbulb time.

Jimmie Jones played on the '71 team, George allen's first team, the first Redskin team to make the playoffs since the '40s.

He replaced Ron McDole, "the dancing bear", on passing downs.

And "82" sounds about right for his number...

Oh, and are they valuable? It seems to me that anyone who played for the Redskins is valuable, especially a regular on their first playoff team in my lifetime...I still remember the family gathering to watch the playoff, all the uncles and male cousins over at the house in Seat Pleasant of my uncle who had a color TV.

Charlie Taylor had broken a leg in mid-season, and Sonny was out with his broken arm, so the passing attack was Kilmer to Roy Jefferson...for some reason, George didn't like passing to Jerry Smith, the great TE. The Skins could have won, should have won, etc. The game went down to the last minute or so...a missed 4th down or a missed field goal...I can;t remember anymore. Just remember the crushing gloom, and one of my uncles saying, "Well, we haven't had a season like this since Sammy Baugh..."

Rich Milot wore #57 (and was there in 81)

Nobody named Rick has EVER wore the #50, in fact, according to the media guide, other than Rick Hamilton in '93 and '94... nobody named Rick has ever wore any of the numbers 50-59.

Nice call on Jimmie Jones, welch.
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

Kubin wore 50, but only from 82-84... in fact nobody wore #50 in 1981.

Pete Wysocki of course wore it from 1975-1980.

Ravin Caldwell was wearing #50 in '91.

The best way to have all of that Redskins info at your finger tips is just to buy a Redskins Media Guide.

The 2004 one isn't out yet, but last year it came out during training camp, so it shouldn't be long. Redskins.com still says that it's coming soon on the media guide page (web version doesn't have everything the print version has)

Here's everyone that ever wore the #50:

Bob Nussbaumer 47-48
Harry Ulinski 50-51, 53-56
Fred hageman 61-64
Willie Adams 65-66
Maxie Baughan 71-74
Pete Wysocki 75-80
Larry Kubin 82-84
Ravin Caldwell 87-92
Jon Kimmel 87
Carlton Rose 87
Tom Myslinski 92
Marc Raab 93
Darrick Brownlow 95-96
Derek Smith 97-00
Robert Jones 01
Larry Moore 02-03

Hope that helps

Wasn't Jimmy Jones a backup tight end for the Skins around the time of their last Super Bowl? Number 82 sounds right too. Who knows, I'm getting too old to remember all this stuff.
