Gibbs on fans at practice

Post by oafusp »

Don't know if this was posted, but I thought it was good to see.

Last year, at Camp Spurrier, it was a circus. There were hundreds of fans walking on the fields, players running into fans, and fans cheering like it was a game.
It's practice...how much clapping and whistling happens at a serious practice?

Do your thing, but I'll just watch and then get excited or pissed off about the practice afterwards over a few foamy beers. I totally back Gibbs on this one.

Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs on his likely decision to restrict fan access from his first training camp in 12 years: “I don’t care if you’re taking a test or what you’re doing. If there’s things walking around, and people talking, good-looking girls walking up and down the sidelines and everything, then generally what people do is: ‘I’d rather look over there than look out here.’ So that’s a problem, distractions are.”

It's like the old story about the big bear that gets on the plane, and a little kid says to the stewardess: WOW!! Where is that big bear gonna sit? And, the stewardess says "Wherever the hell he wants to".

The moral is, if Joe Gibbs doesn't want fans at the practices, fans won't be at the practices. [/quote]
Sit back and watch the Redskins.

SOMETHING MAGICAL IS ABOUT TO BEGIN!

i agree with gibbs 100% on this...and since i dont live down there i wasnt going to be able to go anyhow :P..but it does make sence... with all the new players and coachs they need to concentrate on the task at hand and not the pretty girls on the sidelines

Good training camp coaching is all about chewing out a player in front of the girls he was just looking at.
