Had he got the first down and thrown the ball it would have been first and 25 (maybe even 1st and ten, just 15 yards back.
If you ask me people should be more mad at Robinson for dropping that long pass that may have gone for a TD. Or mad at the D for deciding not to even try to cover Amondola.
Still don't know why MS didn't have the team take a knee instead of trying an impossible (for Cundiff) FG. Taking a knee or kicking the FG, both plays were giving up.

If Morgan had just gone forward after making the catch, he would have had the first down. But he got cute and reversed direction and tried to make the big play. Actually, I think he may have wanted to try and get out of bounds to stop the clock. But that wasn't really an issue, since we not only had timeouts, but still over a minute on the clock.

We had no timeouts left, hence his effort to get out of bounds.

OK, but still plenty of time on the clock, especially with a first down.

"being cute" had nothing to do with it. While I agree that he could have got the 1st down simply by rushing forward, he thought it'd be better to try to beat the guy around the edge. At least that what it looked like from my end. He wasn't trying to get into the endzone, he just choose option 2. It didn't work.
