Just because you don't see Paul catching passes on every other play doesn't mean he isn't or hasn't been involved on offense. In fact,
Paul was quite active last Sunday, much the same as he was at the end of last year.
…Tight end Niles Paul got off to an excellent start as a tight end, though in truth what he did on the first series – when his impact was greatest – was the same as he did at the end of last season. The Redskins used him in space and let him use his quickness. He blocked linebacker David Hawthorne on the second play (after lining up in the slot), enabling Garcon to get upfield for 12 yards. Next play: Paul lined up wide and turned the corner out, giving Garcon another lane (for 14 yards after the catch). Next play: Another bubble screen to Garcon and this time Paul takes care of the corner for a nine-yard gain. And, yes, on the next play Paul lined up wide left again and took care of the corner for a Robinson bubble screen (and eight yards after the catch).

It's only been one game. Mike and Kyle can't unload the entire playbook in one game. The offensive strategy will change from week to week, which means they'll emphasize different players accordingly. Not to mention, even though Davis may have only caught 2 passes last week, he
was targeted 4 or 5 times.
Davis was one of the most productive players on offense last year, which is why the Skins subsequently hung the franchise tag on him for this season. I don't think there's any doubt Davis will get his touches this year and will make the most of them. He's already proven to be a productive and dynamic player.
I still remember when certain folks around here were in an uproar when the team drafted Davis, stating that we already had

ey and therefore didn't need another TE. Meanwhile, the league has seen the evolution of the TE position in today's game and has emphasized the position on their roasters, using multiple high draft picks for multiple TE's. Entering just his 4th season, Davis got the franchise tag for being one of the most productive players on offense while

ey has struggled with injuries over the past few years that have slowed him to the point that the coaches couldn't even find a way to keep him on the roster. Others players have stepped up while

ey took a few steps backwards. I love

ey just as much as the next guy, but it's hard to see where he'll fit at this point. Keeping 4 TE's on the roster does seem like a lot.
