Who should i be watching on our defense tomorrow?

Post by oj »

You guys are much more astute than i, so who should i be watching on defense tomorrow? Will anybody get to Breeze and affect the game, someone that NO hadn't forseen?

If the D-line gets pressure it would prevent Brees from stepping up and would probly cause some sacks for the backers. They're probly an above-average group and are capable of some good games. Don't expect much out of the secondary.

I would watch rak to see if his injury has really healed or not. Would also watch who we use in our secondary esp at safety. Will we see some rookies get playing time tomorrow.....like crawford?

Kerrigan. I am really hoping to rattle Brees back there.

I think it's smart just to watch the overall Dline and the pressure. Also keep in mind that Hasslett loves to send pressure so watch the Dbacks to see where the pressure comes from and what the dline/linebackers do to cover

Any one of our D line rotaion guys can be someone over looked, but can disrupt the o line.
I'd look for Jarvis Jenkins while he is in, Adam Carriker coming off a good first year in our D, Stephen Bowen and golsten should all be on full tanks w quality depth. Baker might impress on his limited action. Perry riley has been playing good and no need to mention the cap Mr Fletcher.
I see Rak and as mentioned Kerrigan causing problems, I'd look for them to flip sides era now and then. Josh Wilson might grab an int being more comfortable, and d hall should get some time at free safety.

Keep an eye on DeJon Gomes who will start in place of Brandon Merriweather. I'm also looking forward to seeing Crawford & Griffin step up.

The front 7 is sound.

If the front 7 is playing as well as you hope... the secondary may look like world beaters... Frankly, if Brees is finding himself perpetually harrassed, I expect much from the secondary... despite the bailing wire that's holding it together.

Who to watch

The defense will be crushed. It's up to RG3 and receivers to outscore New Orleans.

I'm really interested to see what Jarvis Jenkins can do in his first regular season game. Definitely agree with you guys on Kerrigan also to see the improvement he's made from his rookie campaign to sophomore season. Also am eager to see what new pash rushing moves Orakpo has implemented into his arsenal cuz he says he's been working extra hard on that this offseason

I want to give the D more credit, but the secondary still needs to prove itself. I think the above scenario is very likely. Hopefully we pull it off.

Nobody has mentioned London Fletcher, is there a reason?

This might be true and if so, we are doomed.

We must make them earn it. We cannot let them score on explosion plays. We need to make them use 10+ plays with no mistakes. We need a few mistakes from them.

I'd look for a few unusual blitzes on 3rd down. Brees makes excellent pre-snap reads and has excellent anticipation. We have to give him misleading pre-snap alignments and initial keys so that he must react more instead of instantly knowing where to go.

It won't be easy. He's one of the best.

I give us a 25% chance of winning.

They didn't.. I remember thinking when big Trent was owning D ware they flipped him to the right end.. that they ought to be flipping our olbs to creat havoc w their different styles.
If u say they have, and I say they haven't... that makes.... Me right, n u wrong!
