The Junkies were bashing our groups of RBs and a couple of them think we have the worst group of RB in the NFL. So I wanted to see how the starting RBs in the NFC East stack up.

This list is based on 7 games (unless stated other wise) and is a per game average. I added D. Murray's full season stats because he had a game over 200 yards that he didn't start in. Those yards are lincluded in Murray (season).

Code: Select all

Helu____________20.8 / 84.4_____4.1____3

I know Royster didn't play that much, but 6.3 YPC? How can anyone think he's not a good RB?

I don't know what those stats are showing/from but for the year I'm pretty certain Royster was right at 5.9 ypc and helu just a little less.

Tough to say because the preseason didn't give Royster & Helu a lot of reps against different blitzes since teams are somewhat basic & the both missed games.

I would say Royster by a little based on last year. But, once Morris learns to do it better, I think his power and reckless style will be better suited for pass blocking.

Keim's Assessment of the RB Situation
The Redskins could opt for Alfred Morris' feel-good story, turning the sixth-round pick into a starter. They could opt for reliable Evan Royster, a tough inside runner. Or they could go with Roy Helu, a potential outside threat.

You're may be correct, but I was only looking at the two games he started and the five games Helu started and compared those seven games to seven games of other starting RBs in our division.

Each line is a per game average. So you can see that in the two games Royster started he averaged 122.5 yards on 19.5 caries, both 100+ yard games. Helu started five games and averaged 84.4 yards on 20.8 caries with three 100+ yard games.

Combined they had five 100 yard games and racked up 95.3 on 20.4 yards per game. Their performance in this seven game stretch is better than any of the RBs in our division.

In other words, I have complete faith that as long as our OL plays well our RBs are capable of being as good as any back in our division.

 gotchya!

For the "majority" of voters whom support Alfred Morris.. can I get some insight? Besides a fluke game against a fluke D in the fluke OFF-season wtf has he done?.. oh ya NADA. 3.3 ypc against vanilla flavored bs Ds. Open your damb eyes he's a rook... It's Roy or < Evan.
Someone PLEASE challenge my statements with facts. I tripple dog dare ya!

Leading ALLTIME rusher for Penn state, 100+ yards per game every start, and an impressive 5.9 ypc as a Rookie in a new system

Who ever didn't vote Royster needs to sip on some hateraid!, and I'm out!

What is the lovefest for Morris. Ok, Ok, Shanny knows how to discover talent and he has done so, year in and year out.

Morris is a rook and he had a great game in preseason. Let's remain optimistic and see how he does in the REAL games.

I personally like HELU....see my sig below

who really cares who starts?

I hope we get good games from all the RBs and they all are able to help this offense
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Best I can tell both Royster and Helu were rookies last season and neither has played a full season, both have dealt with injuries (last season and this off-season), both had pretty good years with a spotty O-line. throw in Morris and you have a committee.

Shanny named Royster the starter, he said they won't know who will start until Sat. afternoon... I like Morris but don't really care who starts as long has whoever is in there produces and PROTECTS RGIII.

 thanks for that - just back from vacation and wanted to stir the pot

I'd love to see each of the 3 RBs get 70 yards on the ground

I know that's not likely but it would throw the fantasy guys into a tailspin if we had a great ground game spread out amongst all our backs

Report-Morris to start at running back

Robert Griffin III won’t be the only rookie in the Redskins’ backfield when they take their first offensive snap at 1:00 in New Orleans.

Agreed he should change it, but you know those rookies especially th 6th rounders. The only thing on his mind is that his dream is coming true. Next year, when his head clears, he will think like a veteran and change his number before someone grabs 32.

Does Shanny have to announce who starts? Does it matter? Who gets the first carry isn't a lock on getting the most.
Who to play and who to sit Royster and LaMicheal James.....hmmmm
