After listening to shanahans post game qa session, where he discusses the decline of the return specialist over the past couple of seasons in the NFL....think the writing is on the wall for bb.

Thats a lot to gather from him agreeing with the world that the KO rule has hurt the position..
BB is still a threat and game changer at punt return even if its getting higher shorter kicks and kicks ob.

He ALSO caught a 47 harder, broke a 42 yard run.. and of course had about a 20 harder called back. He is a threat on O as a reverse play, screen, and especially the go route- even if its not thrown to him. His speed is something you can't teach, he commands respect and if that leaves Garçon wide open underneath that's all he needs to do.

ey hurt my feelings, Gano kinda left me scratching my head, BB being cut would makemme doubt the FO.. especially watching him take it to the house for another team.

He's in the Hester league as far as returning and even when they know what he can do he still pulls em off... Not always for tds but for great field positions. I'm sick of defending one of our play makers every year, and pointing out the obvious... I hope Shanny does the rightthing.

Am I missing something here? Honestly, I am baffled that RedOne is arguing. Maybe he isn't though. I can't get through his long replies. I was simply stating that he is NOT in Hester's league by comparing their careers to this point, which is an apples to apples comparison because someone else said he was in Hester's league (see above). If CowboyKiller was saying that he was in his league last year, that's not really someone that I want on my team, cause Hester was pretty average at returns last year....BUT Hester also contributed at WR, either way, not a reason to keep Banks.

Now I know what the players feel like at the end of training camp when there are all these fights and everyone is just jacked for the season to start...kidding, please don't start teeing off on that statement saying that this is nothing like a hard grueling camp.

Also RedOne, keep in mind, if you are going to say CowboyKillers comment was regarding just last year, which I did not, keep in mind, that Hester contributed as a WR last year with 26 catches and a TD. That could justify a spot. Banks contributes, what, 1 catch last year if that. These stats do not support keeping Banks.

So yes, Hester was a bit better last year as well, average I would say, but the Bears are using him on O as well, something Shanny can not get from Banks.

Maybe CowboyKillers should explain WTF he meant with such a dumb statement, and we can move on

When forced to read between the lines, there's more than one way to read things. For example, one could argue that Shanahan giving Banks many opportunities last night was merely allowing Banks to audition for other teams, especially playing against players who won't even be in the league come tomorrow. Not saying that's the fact, but just a different way to look at the situation

Well stated opinion. When forced to read between the lines, and if we take Shanny at his word (which is "dangerous to do), you are spot on here. It seems more likely that he is auditioning Banks than seeing what he can do. Doesn't Shanny already know what he can do as a returner and reverse runner?

In my personal opinion, I believe the scale weighs in favor of releasing him. I know that's an unpopular opinion around the THN community, and I fully understand and respect the varying opinions.

You know that I am a big Banks supporter, but I agree with you that the scale weighs in favor of releasing him.

1. He has looked tuuurible just tuuurible as a receiver. When a coach, whether he means it or not, tells you you have to make the team as a receiver, I would think that you would get a better showing that that. I gave him a pass on the first game, but you can't drop the ball the next game. Concentration has to there.

2. The muffed (NFL records as fumbles) punts keep coming. Had one against TB.

I fully understand your rationale for believing that he won't make the final 53.

I am not trying to convince you here, but stating that I have not changed my stance that he will be on the 53, because he is a playmaker and he has what Shanny can't teach - speed. Banks is a weapon. Personally, I think that Shanny has more up his sleeve on what he can do with Banks.

Again, not arguing with you. I see us agreeing to disagree and I respect your position. Your arguments, above, are backed up with facts and good reasoniing, in my opinion, so I don't see you as a hater.

I don't know whether Shanny will keep him on not, but the idea that he was auditioning Banks for other teams instead of getting his players ready or trying to decide whom to cut is just flat out wrong.

I respect your opinion, CH1, if you are admitting to the possibility of Shanny not keeping Banks, then why wouldn't he audition the guy, if he is planning to get rid of him? We know that coaches do that? Why would it be different for Banks?

I did not originally compare the two, but responding to someone who did, saying it was a bad comparison if he was talking about their careers to this point. Hester has been in a league of his own. I provided stats of their first two years to back up my statement. If he was comparing 2011, then yes, similar average return numbers, and certainly not something to get excited about, but Hester lines up as a WR and contributes, so maybe that merits a spot. Banks does not contribute...except on one gadget play, which is a stretch. Hester, with his return stats, from last year ALONE, would be on the bubble as well.

You know, most of my arguments on here reflect the fact that so many fans on here act like they know everything about the goings on with players, and they flat out don't. They ARE NOT at practice, nor in the locker room, nor do they know the player personally, but somehow, they feel like because they watched a game on TV, or went to a training camp practice, or stood in line for an autograph at a local Macy's store, they know better than the coaches. It drives me nuts.

There you go again going off on another tangent. Sorry, forgot I said it...must be thinking out loud cause I clearly agree with it, but its kind of an obvious statement to most. A fan is going to be obsessed with their guys making the team. Not sure what your original point was. Not a very good one. Guess the meat of the argument was put to bed by me, cause if you expect anyone to buy what you have left in the argument that he got the same amount of production based on one throw is, well, laughable
