Who to start at RB?
With the preseason Morris had and the uncertainty of Hightower, who do you want to see start/get most carries on opening day?
RIP Sean Taylor. You will be missed.

Not to mention the way Shanny likes to groom his Rookie rbs. Like last year I plan on seeing Morris in the second half, spelling, and a change of pace or 3rd down back before getting a start.
Depending on injury status any of the other three can start. HT is probably the best blocker, Helu the fastest, and Royster the best vision.. who ever "starts" won't be the only RB in.the game.
I think Royster beats em up for a while then Helu cuts em with his speed and fresh legs. HT third down and passing situations.

I really think HT might aswell.. only reason he didn't get my vote is cuz he only had 5 carries all preseason. BUT he churned out 28 yards so he did look fully recovered.langleyparkjoe wrote:Hightower.. they are all equal IMO so I'm going with my hometown dude but like Bru said it's not about who starts really.

I think from what I saw in pre season we should keep seeing how effectively Morris runs the ball. Without a doubt this team will be rotating RB's all year long which is great for competition.
How lucky are we to actually have a controversy at RB? Now, if we can just figure out the O-line....

I like Hightower out there to start with a heavy dose of Helu as we get into the game. I don't think its a question really of who starts vs. who they lean on the most during the game.

True words... I know helu muffed his first pitch last night- blame the rust. Any other fumbles so far?ATX_Skins wrote:With a competition like this, I would hate to be the first RB to cough one up.

Well then VOTE for Royster! Lol my step dad likes Penn st... So he grew on me right away.cleg wrote:I'm not a big Hightower fan. I didn't think he was all that before he got hurt. That said, they are all about the same it seems so I don't think it matters. My favorite is Royster because he seems like a good kid.
I guess I "un-knowingly" named my 8 month lil boy after him.. and Mr SeanTaylor.

Whomever is the better blocker between Royster and Morris. I think it is Morris, but I certainly have not seen enough to make that call.
Hightower is the best blocker, but his running style DOES NOT fit the ZBS. In this system he is easily the worst runner of the group.
Helu would be my 3rd down back (blocking sucks, but improving) he is the best reciever of the four RBs.
I would start Hightower at the top of the Turk list, but they probably won't cut him and they may even start him week one but that will never last!

I'm as big on Morris as the next guy..
But before everyone jumps onboard and wants him to be the starter let's take a look at facts.
Yes he put up 107 yards on 14 carries on a pretty weak Colts D.
But, he also put up only 54 yards on 15 carries and 34 on 10 carries vs the stingy Ds of Buffalo and Chicago- so he's far from being the savior here.
Also I wouldn't want to put that kind of pressure on a rookie to help our investment at qb..
I wouldn't mind seeing him but not starting, at least until mid season like helu last year.
Yes that's 5 ypc, but mostly against a turrable colts D transitioning to a new D under a new coach.. I'm not sold, Yet!

Hightower should start, if fully fit.
Best blocker, most experienced, leads from the front. I disagree that he doesn't suit the ZBS, they brought him here because he does suit that scheme.
All of our RBs have big upsides and differing flaws in their game. But they can all and will all contribute over the season, and that's no bad thing.

I'm just going by the fact that he had the lowest y/c last year of our RBs and looked like a fish out of water trying to decide what to do in the backfield.SouthLondonRedskin wrote:Hightower should start, if fully fit.

He still loked like that the few caries he had this preseason.

I have to say that Morris has looked really good in the preseason. He runs the ball very well. I have been very impressed.
I have always liked Helu though and he is the vet so I would like to see him start, although he is more of the 3rd down back over Royster or Hightower. I personally don't think Hightower can compete with these 3, so it is likely he'll be phased out over the course of the year.
All in all, I am very curious to see how MS handles this. He has 3 guys that can all play. I really want to see Morris play, but given everything was in the preseason, I would prefer to have him gradually get more carries.
