Shannahan - patience is past

Post by chiefhog44 »

"The coach threw a symbolic stool across the locker room on Wednesday. No more feeling comfortable on a team that just muddles through. It's time to get better or get out."

His team is in place. Now he must improve. He's had time to get his 3-4 scheme installed. He has had time to get his linebackers, d-lineman, WR's, QB, RB's, DB's and O-Line. Granted, the O-line and DB's are, IMO, our true weak spots and will need continued improvement, but he has now overturned the entire team. Now the spotlight is on him. I would imagine he gets one more year as a freebe by Snyder, then it's show me time.

Hmmmm, this has been debated on various threads on several boards...But i think the writer is off on a couple of points. I don't think te was the deepest position on the team....wr, rb both have depth. Also, he states that the redskins only improved at one position over last season.....what about qb spot? Also, secondary moves MAY turn out better as well, but tough to predict now. And, some would argue that we just improved our kicking game. We also added depth, something that was on display vs the bucs, but has also been on display throughout the preseason. We have gotten quicker and younger......and just because there are not many household names on our roster now does not mean they won't be known by seasons end. Think we r heading in the correct direction, and think shanny safely has his two more seasons coming at least. Also, the 2-14 guess is just that, and a bad one at that.

Stupid article. I'm starting to some of these writers, aside from having to look at his ugly face while reading it.

Mike isn't going anywhere. This team/franchise is in the best shape it's been in since Danny purchased the team. And I believe that Danny realizes that.

He speaks of a lack of patience in this story of symbolic stools. I think he'd be better off writing about the patience that Danny has been displaying.

I totally get Mikes reluctance to release RGIII to the local media. They're so accustomed to negativity that, it's all they live for. It's all you hear on the local radio. This entire fanbase has become so accustomed to being losers that, they're setting themselves up for the disappointment years ahead of time so that IF it happens, they can say "I told you so".

Shanny better be patient.

Danny better be patient.

This is NOT the breakout season. We are a year or two from winning our Division.

Let's be realistic fellows, I will be happy if we have an 8 - 8 season. Anything better than that is sweet.

I know that many are pumped up and excited at the beginning of the season and there are good reasons to be excited due to good progress but there are significant holes which will become more evident as the season goes on and injuries take some of of our key players away from the active roster.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

I reckon we all need to be patient for a while yet. A lot of areas on this team have improved significantly over the last two years, and the team is younger, and the roster is deeper than it has been for some time.

But it isn't fair to expect RGIII to take this team to the playoffs until the o-line is as strong and deep as the defensive line, or the secondary is as good as the linebackers. We're still a handful of injuries away from crisis, and some of those injuries have ALREADY happened.

Patience my friends, patience.

^^ I agree - 8-8 would be fine .... as long as the product on the field shows that we are getting there

there are marked improvements - we now look at our WRs as a good thing when just last season this was a big question - we now have not 1 but 2 very good (admittedly young) QBs, not that that's a bad thing ...

we have made some good steps towards having a better product on the field and I think it will show this season

Bruce & Mike need another year .... and BOTH Kyle and Jim Haslett need to do a better job as well
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

8-8???? Hold on, let me catch up with you -drinking

This is a 6-7 win team. If you are saying you would be happy with an 8-8 season, sure I would be too, I would be ecstatic. If you're saying you would be satisfied with 8, you are setting yourself up to be disappointed.

I agree, BUT we need to see signs that we are moving in the right direction on the offensive side. The defensive side should be set and should see consistency in points and yards against averages (sure we need DBs but we are better off than offensively). More importantly we need to see consistency and leadership from our younger players, most importantly RGIII.

Most here are excited; I am too, but also nervous. I see some holes in our roster and in the NFL, all weaknesses are thoroughly exposed.

I just hope that Danny realizes that he is 100% the cause of the mess he left for MS and BA to clean up and has (and should) contribute 0% to the rebuilding process. If he understands this, he will have patience and he will give MS and BA time to fix everything; I'm just worried that at first sign of improvement his MASSIVE EGO will take over and he'll be back to his old ways.....but that's the pessimist in me.
RIP Sean Taylor. You will be missed.

Man, I think you guys are seriously underestimating the effect our upgrade at QB will have on our record. Last year, we were in almost every game late in the 4th quarter, and that was with Rex at QB. This year we win those games outright.
