Armstrong and Banks next...?!??!?!?

Post by SouthLondonRedskin »

After Laron Landry, Graham Gano and today Chris Cooley are all let go by the Redskins you have to wonder how Anthony Armstrong and Brandon Banks are feeling just now....

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I'll reference this again:

Banks will play on gameday guaranteed but most other guys on the bottom WR chart won't be active. Also, wasn't Banks one of the better return guys in the NFL last season even with terrible blocking and a bum knee? If he's healthy, it doesn't make sense that he isn't on the team. Keep in mind, Robinson is a good WR with a lot of potential but you've got to make decisions that are best for this team.

My guess...based on no inside info...is that Banks sticks but Armstrong will be cut.

Chris Cooley has given enormous amounts of his time and energy to the Redskins and to his community. He has opened up his life to us fans in ways that no other player has ever done. I wish him well and happiness for his future.

Armstrong is all but gone. Aldrick Robinson will take his spot.

Brandon Banks is a STARTER people. He's our starting KR/PR AND he's one of the best at his position in the league.

You do not cut a top end STARTER to keep a backup WR who may not see the field. I don't know why ppl don't understand this. Do some research folks. The 6th or 7th WR rarely has any impact as a receiver. They are usually special teams guys--gunners etc, or not even active on game day.

Banks has a legitimate chance to make the Pro Bowl as a returner. It is totally senseless to cut him.

Well, they may have reason to fear, but they .... OK, I was wrong about Cooley not going to get cut. I knew that there were signs out that that caused your feeling that he might get cut, but I just didn't think it would happen.

I feel that same about Banks that it won't happen and I am going to stick with that.

I think that AAA is gone.

Didn't he play in the NFL for quite a while? Not to mention was one of the most electric punt/kickoff returners post BMitch?

Yes, thatt's the guy. He is tied for 2nd behind BMitch with 12 return TDS (BMitch 13). His averaged wasn't the best, but he knew how to take it to the house!

Not as good a point as I first thought. I erroneously recalled that the Chiefs inexplicably cut Hall, despite continuing to have a great year as a return man for the Chiefs. I thought the point was -- even the Chiefs were willing to cut a stud return man- BUUUUT - the point is softened by the Chiefs trading Hall for a 5th round choice and swapping 3rd rounders. That's is still cheap for a stud return man who also contributes to the pass game. BUUUT - the point is still softened more when you hear Herm Edward's saying that we need to get younger, so my believe that it was inexplicable was wrong and my belief that he was cut was wrong. Therefore, I cna't give ATX that much credit for this one.

Unlike Banks, Hall played a number of years before he was traded for little and he only lasted two more years, so not the same.

So ATX, please explain you point, because my interpretation is messed up. BUUUUT - thanks for the memory of that guy - loved to watch Hall return kicks.

Deadskins - thanks for bringing me back to reality

I just wasn't sure of ATX reason for posting the video. Was he saying we should keep Banks because you can't overestimate his contribution, or telling us that big time returners do get cut?

There was absolutely no point in me posting the video except that I went back and watched Banks kick return highlights and fell slightly into YouTube Hell.

I cannot stand Bobblehead Banks but I see him making the team. Armstrong I could care less either way but I see him making it too.

Bobble head banks? Wtf did you think all night on a bogus cutdown that only you could find clever? THAT bobble head is a game changer, and a cheap one at that.

Ooooo I get it let's put moss back there until his knee gets broke? Or maybe Crawford, because he has Sooooo many tds huh?

How much tds does the kid gotta break until you get off his case? As a long time Cooley fan I'm not so blind as u seem to be... I know u could give a HUH about CaptainChaos, but I'd take BB over CC for the simple fact BB will change.more games... Including NOT being kicked to!. Be real man SOB.

People want to keep Gano ( one of the worst players in the league at their Special Teams position) but cut Brandon Banks ( one of the best players in the league at their Special Teams position)

makes sense
