1st Preseason GameDay Thread

I saw where Griff is going for 4-8 plays, i.e., one or two series. I'd like to see more like one or two quarters.

What would you do?

What else are you looking for?

What's our first play from scrimmage?

I'd say 2 series to start with would be good to see, gradually working up to a full half by the 4th game.

I'm VERY interested to see our secondary and receivers. I'd say O-line but ehhh...

First play from scrimmage, hand off to Royster.

This hand off will include bootleg action to see if anyone is staying home. A great deal of what we do will flow from that.

Everything we run should have one less guy defending it since Griff needs to be accounted for.

Two series for RGIII is great. Get his feet wet and get out without injury especially with the banged up O line.

First play: Play action fake to Royster, straight dropback, go to Garcon.

4. I am looking for Gettis to step it up in place of Chester.

3. I want to see Chris Baker have a good game at NT.

2. I will be watching the safety competition.

1. The Wideout battle should be a lot of fun to watch. I am looking for Banks to shine at WR and PRs. I Think that Robinson will show that he can return punts.

1. I want to see how the "walking wounded" will do... Hankerson, Cooley, Morgan, Jackson, and Chester

2. The same thing we all want to see... RGIII

3. Jenkins...

4. Morris impact on the not just the secondary but the defense as a whole

I read RGiii will take 20 snaps somewhere... I tend to read a buncha crap so Idk..
I think at least two full possession would be cool but understand if its less.
Watching neild baker and jj and of course the secondary battles. Hoping BB kills it, as with Royster and hoping someone getting a chance on oline steps it up.
I like the play action roll out to graçon but a betting man would say off left guard or tackle hand off to Royster.

What time this shindig popn off @ firstrowsports anyhow??!

I don't agree with the idea of playing RGIII for only 4-8 plays. He is a rookie and he needs the work in real game situations. The Colts are planning to play Luck for 20-24 plays in their first game, possibly the entire first half. Newton didn't start in his first preseason game, but he came on in the second quarter and played for nearly two quarters. Likewise, Andy Dalton played for the entire first half of his first preseason game last season.

I think he plays for at least the first quarter tomorrow. Anything less just doesn't make sense.

I read 20ish...see if I can dig it,, nah Idk where it was.
I hope its more.. I think some work against their 2s is a good idea for confidence and experience too.

I think RG III's game action will depend on how he plays. If he comes out on the first two series and drives for touchdowns then I would say that will be the end of his night. If he struggles then I think he will play a little bit longer.

Kyle Shanahan has been saying 12-20 plays in his interviews this week.

Yea... Shanny said 12-20. If he remains relatively untouched and is doing decent, I expect him to play at the high end of that if not a little more.

I'm going to have to miss the first half of this game because I'm closing at work tonight :(.

Hopefully I'll be able to catch some good action from Alfred Morris, Kirk Cousins, and Banks in the second half. It'd be gravy if I could find a complete video of the first half tomorrow (I'm out of market so it's not like I get the games on T.V.).

Honestly, I want to see RGIII as little as possible tonight. CanesSkin26 makes a fair point about him being a rookie and needing the work. I can't argue with that. But the risk of getting him injured in a completely meaningless game like this isn't worth it to me.

I'm juiced for this first game either way. Forked over $20 to NFL.com so I can watch it here in Boston tonight on my laptop.

But it is worth it to the coaches and to RGIII. No practice, no matter how intense, can match the experience he'll get from actual game reps.

Unless we're playing him the whole game, I don't see why injury risks should concern us. He needs the reps, and he has to play sometime. If anything he's more likely to get injured in week 1 if he didn't get sufficient time in preseason to acclimate himself to the speed and chaos of the pro game.

I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

I am also interested in seeing how well Perry Riley has gotten in this last year. Guy is a beast and I expect big things from him this year.

Your logic is sound, and I can't argue with it. My personal opinion though is that I'll be happy to see him play a series and get off the field tonight.
