Sellers to Retire

Post by frankcal20 »

Sellers hanging it up

Per Chick Hernandez, Mike Sellers is retiring from the NFL. He played 12 NFL seasons, 11 of them with the Redskins.

Sellers’ best season in terms of statistics came in 2005 when he caught 12 passes and scored seven touchdowns. But his real contributions came as a lead blocker and, especially, on special teams. Nobody wanted to see that 260-lb. body barreling towards him. Sellers also was a great locker room character and a fan favorite for his ability to bowl over defenders when he caught the ball in the open field.

Sellers will make his retirement official on Monday.
Was always fun to watch. Will remember him blocking and Portis holding on for dear life.

He gave it all he had. Loved his 2005 year, but I'll also remember that he was a great player on special teams until the end, which is uncommon for someone his age.

A man who played the game because he loved it... it's that simple. We'll miss his guts.

He was one of my favorites. Tough as nails and fearless. Thanks, Big Mike.

He got drafted but blew his opportunity. Reality struck in Canada and got an opportunity. Took full advantage of it and he still mentions it to this day. That's the guys you want. The guys who appreciate the opportunity to play the game. I'll take 53 Mike Seller's and while we may not win every game, we'll kick your BUTT all over the field.

Thanks for everything Big Mike!!!!

Hopefully the 'Skins can give him a trainer's position. Man knows his way around a weight room.

I was about to type something... But you Summed it up greatly.
I'll also give a plus one to the trainer position.

I'm glad to see he's hanging it up at a good time. Great player for us, and a great teammate from all accounts. Wish him the best for the future.
