After watching top 25 college games?

Post by encinoman »

Baylor had 3 games in the top 25 college games of 2011, all awesome games. Do you have the same excitment for RGIII or has it dropped off a little. Full game tape and youtube highlight reels are two different things. My feeling is that Baylors offense really fit with Girff's skill set. I hope we can do the same for him, possibly more with the boot game. We have got to play to his strengths or this thing could get ugly. really curious to see which direction we go here. Thoughts.

I sincerely doubt that the RG3 situation could end up 'seriously ugly'. a failure to utilize him properly and fully would still leave us a couple of orders of magnitude improved at QB. We KNOW he can throw more than 50 yards, and he is fleet of foot. Even in a total goat@#$%, his raw talent makes him an enormous improvement.

I seriously doubt Shanny is gonna drop the ball in any case. He moved heaven and earth to get the kid for a reason. Hail the shanaplan, HTTR

RG3's a smart dude but so is Mike Shanahan. He's going to work some of the same plays that they did at Baylor and will infuse the plays into their offense throughout the season.

I think we'll do what Coach did in CLT for Cam Newton. Let the QB grow into the season regardless of wins/losses. I don't know about the rest of you guys but we all know that Carolina is VERY CLOSE. The Redskins aren't much different and in my opinion, they're better than we are right now just based on CAM. Keep in mind, my feelings are that way b/c of not seeing RG3 play vs NFL talent but Cam is the real deal. RG3 is a brighter guy so that'll give us a leg up.

I'm not sure what weaknesses we know of at this point that could generate ugly. The main knock was his lack of playing under center in a pro style offense. By all accounts he's picking it up very quickly. We know his intelligence and strong work ethic is a big reason. Throw on top of that a highly accurate and powerful arm. Then the ability to move around in the pocket. The only speed bump I see could be if he loses confidence and he seems to have enough for the entire team. I don't see it going ugly. Normal growing pains while he catches up to the increased speed at this level, but I can't see ugly happening.

My excitement has not diminished yet. Unless RGIII just comes out and completely lays an egg this season, it will take quite a bit for my hopes to be diminished. I am not crowning him as a savior....yet....but am very excited about the possibilities here with him, and the rest of the team....all under competent leadership. My opinion.

Let's face it, if they blindfolded him and spun him round three times before every play, he'd still be an improvement on what we had last season.

Everyone is talking about RGIII, which is understandable, but I'm excited about the all round improvement in the team and the strength in depth which whilst being far from perfect is still a major improvement on last season, where to be honest we were thread-bare and forced to play rookies. Luckily for us, the rookies were good!

IF Morris changes the way the secondary works and improves it, and if the OL stays healthy, we have a side that can beat anyone on their day.

Remember how we went toe-to-toe with New England last season...? Swap Rex for RGIII and we would probably have sneaked that game, don't you think...?

Things never go to plan, we will have injuries, God willing we'll avoid any suspensions, but our strongest team is a handful for anyone. If Kyle makes good use of RGIII with some original plays we could do really well and even nick the division.

That's stretching it a little and that probably wont happen, but it is at least a possiblility this season. I feel my optimism is genuine for once, and even if we finish 8-8 it'll be a good 8-8, know what I mean...????

I do catch myself pipedreaming quite a bit, but really want us to just become consistently respectable. We are in a tough division, and probably cannot always dominate, but then neither can the cowpies, iggles, or gimps. Just as long as we are not embarrassing and perennially in the cellar...
