Again, that is someone else, not I. So "same thing" does not apply and he did "speak up" ... here:

Deadskins wrote:I think we should have just as many IDPs as offensive players, and their fantasy scoring should be adjusted so that they score just like offensive players. That makes it more like real football, where offense and defense are equal partners in the team.

... and here:

Deadskins wrote:Another advantage to having IDPs score as much as offensive players is that it makes the draft much more interesting. In my league there are still good offensive players on the board in the late rounds, because defensive stars go off the board as early as the offensive ones.

I will continue to read other posts on the issues and supply what I consisder relevant commentary. Most of my actual suggestions (as opposed to comments on the suggestions of others) have been rebuffed which is fine. They are only suggestions.

DarthMonk

Fair enough... I still disagree though about IDP's, and believe I am with the majority as of right now.

I don't think "most" of them, just some!

 but I am changing it back to 20 yards for 1 point on the QB thing.

Some general thoughts:

The more rare the player the more he should be worth. For example, we only start one QB but we start 2 RBs. It makes sense QBs are worth more ... one might argue they should be worth twice is much. Last year the top 5 QBs were right around 600 points and the top 5 RBs were right around 300 points. That seems like really good balance. The top 5 WRs had a slightly lower average. They were probably undervalued. LPJ adding 0.5 per catch probably makes WRs relative value about right. This will help TE value as well.

The top 5 IDPs averaged about 150. This means QBs were 4 times as valuable. This suggests that if we leave scoring alone 4 is about the right number for IDPs. the 5 we had last year probably made them slightly overvalued and having only 3 would probably make them slightly undervalued. Either way, it's so close I think 3 to 5 IDPs with no scoring changes is fine. I liked 5 last year.

We had 8 bench players last year. Most seem to think that's too many. I won't disagree. The default is 6. With 3 IDPs we will have 12 "man" rosters. I say we need at least 4 on the bench. The default of 6 would be better. That would leave 28 more guys as FAs than we had last year.

Owner A might think he drafted good WRs while I think there are 10 FAs better than his #3 WR. If the bench is too small I can't draft them but when his crappy pick gets injured he can grab someone (he should have drafted and I couldn't draft) off the waiver wire. This is not necessarily bad but it does devalue the draft as we make the bench smaller. I think the yahoo! default of 6 on the bench is really good balance - especially since we have IDPs and yahoo! default does not.

My 2 cents

Keep up the good work, LPJ.

Looks like we got 12.

We stoppin' there or trying to get 2 more? 12 will certainly leave plenty of guys on the waiver wire.

Full stop @ 12 people my brutha!

I just want everyone to be prepared for the draft so make sure you all do enough mock drafts where you are comfortable no matter what number your picking.

We used to call that "wobble weed" in College Park.

If you dipped a joint in the juice it was called a Sherman (or just a sherm).

Frampton:

Champagne for breakfast and a Sherman in my hand
Peached up, peached ale, never fails

I also remember it being called Hink. The idea was it made you as insane as Hinckley - the guy who shot Reagan.

Me, oh heeeeeeeeeeeeeck nawwww!!!

and I hope you're all sober when doing ya'll draft cuz I don't want to hear any excuses why you picked Mark Brunell in round 1 and Santana Moss in round 2.. just cuz they did in the cowboys that day is NOT a reason ok?

A joint dipped in formaldehyde used to be called a click-um, and the smoker was said to be clicking out (in late-'80s New Orleans). At least, that's what I heard.
