Players Poised for a Breakout Season

Post by Jak101 »

Found a pretty good article on which players have the likelihood of a breakout season: http://www.redskins101.com/2012/07/13/w ... ut-season/

I'd like to see what everyone else thinks and who you anticipate will be some of the biggest surprises this season.

Hey Jax, nice site you have there.. (and welcome to THN)

I think I'll be alone on this one but I believe the biggest breakout will be done by Fred Davis. I know he's not a new talent for us but with the additions of speedy WRs I feel they will demand double teams and that'll free up Fred to do his thing. If RG3 is as good as what people believe (I still have my doubts personally) than he'll be able to find him.

My number one pick is Santana Moss to have a rebound of a year . Don't know if it's the same as a breakout year but I look for Moss to be the most productive wide out this year.

Jarvis Jenkins could be a breakout guy on defense.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I think it is a lock if Cooley plays most of the games he will end up with more catches than FD. He might have less yards, but no way Fred is even close to Cooleys catch total.

Cooley will quickly become RG3's security blanket, because unlike Fred he runs exact routes, knows how to find open spots in the zone, and has always been every Shins QBs most reliable target since he has been with the team.

I can't see that changing with a rookie QB.

Personally, I think Niles Paul is being groomed to be Davis' replacement, not Cooley's. Why do you think they haven't signed Davis to a more cap friendly long term deal?
NP's skill set closer resembles FD's, but a better blocker.

Break out players:
- Helu and Royster. By the end of the season Hightower (if he even makes the team) will be virtually nonexistent in the game plan.
- Moss can't have a breakout season, but he will lead the WR with catches.
- I agree with the article that Kerrigan will be the best player on D by the end of the season. Orakpo has more talent, but he thinks he can't improve his game any more (and has said so) and that is sad because he desperately needs to learn a second move.
- RG3 and Jenkins are also candidates for breakout seasons.

skinsfan i think it doubled posted on you.

I would love to see 47 rebound this year and hoping he is over the knee thing. Keep an eye out with reports friom training camp that is about to get under way soon.

I will be watching to see how much 47 hits the field in preseason that will be another hint if Chris is really healthy or not and trying to get back into the number one TE spot.

I've been looking at video of Royster, and I can see him becoming the #1 back. That guy has talent!

Chase Minnifield. He's pissed off and ready to play. Guy has talent. Let's hope he's healthy. I'm banking on it :)

I'd pick RGIII. It's possible that he'll have a rough year learning the ropes, but sometimes rookie QBs step in like they've been playing in the NFL for years. I'm hopeful RGIII can have such a year.
