I think the fact that we signed him, and he taking reps w rgiii says he has a chance to.be number 3 behind cousins. If rex does his same crap in camp we could possibly cut or try to trade him.
I get your drift I'm just saying I'm curious to how he does, let me know what Mike says

The "excitement" around RGIII is generally brought up in its negative aspect - "let's not get so excited that we mortgage our future for the latest eye candy" type stuff. I get that. It could be a mistake. On the other hand ...
There is a lot to be said for an entire city being excited. Imagine the feeling in this town if that guy ends up in B&G. Crowds at home games would be more heavily home-team crowds, the stadium would be packed, and the fans would be JACKED. The players would be jacked as well. I think the spirit of the team would soar. If he has any success at all we become a much more attractive destination for good free agents too.
I think there is a lot more to be said about this but you don't need to read more from me. I think he's the right move at the right time.
Football is truly a game of emotion. Flat teams lose to spirited teams - almost every time.

I understand your point better now - I just don't see them keeping 4 QBscowboykillerzRED wrote:I think the fact that we signed him, and he taking reps w rgiii says he has a chance to.be number 3 behind cousins. If rex does his same crap in camp we could possibly cut or try to trade him.

RGIII is obvious
Grossman is both insurance and to help the other 3 - THAT IS ALL
Cousins is a bonus - we did not expect to get such a good QB
HOPEFULLY Cousins can get up to speed really soon
again - I don't see these guys keeping 4 AND we are NOT starting the season without Grossman, even as bad as he is
this franchise has really had a lot of good things happen with player acquisitions the past 14 months
as they say - we are ahead of ourselves

what a lot of difference having a decent FO makes - eg stupid Jerrah taking a CB when Barron is sitting there

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

HOPEFULLY, as we see better play on the field - the stadium might begin to be noisier than some of the visiting teams supporters

The problem has to do with the acoustics of the stadium itself. It was built as a huge bowl to house as many people as possible, that's it. Also consider that they're removing seats from the stadium, that's going to make it quieter.SkinsJock wrote:HOPEFULLY, as we see better play on the field - the stadium might begin to be noisier than some of the visiting teams supporters
I've attended some of the Skins/Raven preseason games here in Baltimore and they're louder than Landover on gameday. Constructing the stadium in such a way to channel that energy onto the field is key. FedEx field got loud due to sheer brute force, but it can't compete with stadiums that are built to aide it.

Is this even in question? There's about zero chance that we or any other team keep 4 QBs. The real question for the Skins this season will be if they have two or three QBs on the roster. We only had two last year. Cousins could force them to make a tough decision.SkinsJock wrote:I understand your point better now - I just don't see them keeping 4 QBs

Shanny has an interesting take on the new 90 man rosters. For those of you who made the argument that Cousins wouldn't have any time to develop at practice failed to realize that preseason rosters went to 90 players, thus allowing teams to field two full practices. 1st's vs the 2nd's on both fields, thus giving Cousins a ton of learning time. He also put to rest the whole competition theory that some in the media hyped by naming his starter right now. If anyone has time, I would listen to the interview. He sheds some light on many speculated subjects and proves that he has a plan in place and that everyone else is just trying to create controversey.
Miss you 21

Edit: Nevermind, figured it out. Great interview. Really much more open about things then I recall him typically being.

“And nobody was sure how he really felt about RGIII, so he said you know what, I’m coming out right now,” Kornheiser finished.
“And that’s called PR, because that has nothing to do with football,” Wilbon said. “It’s smart PR, but it’s always late with the Redskins. And this is why I’ve sounded a repeated theme for the past 10 years: their judgment is so flawed, and the overcorrection attempts by the Redskins...come every other day. They goof up something and get something stupid wrong, and then they come back with a PR move to cover it up. They always do this, Tone....

And there lies the problem. He is a nobody. He came from the Jets I believe and they didn't want him either.

Why don't people understand that naming Griffin the starter was not only smart as a football move (he's the best option we have based on what Rex is) and it eliminates all of the drama that would swirl around all offseason.
"So is Griffin the guy?" How about Rex??" Will Cousins start? We saw Cousins taking reps, is RG3 not progressing??""
The media onslaught would have been relentless and it still will, but at least the question won't be whose the leader. The team can now circle the wagons around the annointed leader. RG3
Smart move on all levels

Normally i like kornheiser and wilbon....but disagree with their take here. It was pretty apparent to most that u do not give up as many draft choices as we did to move up 4 spots and take a bench warmer. I agree that if Shanny had not named RGIII starter sooner rather than later, then media controversy would still happen but be centered around RGIII, cousins, rex as to who should start.
Well, luckily enough for us, self appointed media guru's r not in charge of my team. All this bs will be forgotten when we win.

I can't believe the negative publicity it's drawn. There's a lot more going on with other teams that deserves critical press coverage more than Shanny naming his number one draft pick as his starter...
The media take is that he's obviously impressed so much in those five practices that Shanny made his mind up there and then. It's more pressure on RG3 but I like the fact that Shanny doesn't seem bothered about that, clearly he feels that RG3 can handle it, which is a good sign.
It's a case of 'We've traded up for you, we've given up a lot for you but we believe in you and we're backing you 100%.'
In summary, Shanny watched him take a few snaps and said "YOU THE MAN!"

What's irritating is that EVERY move we is WRONG in the media's eyes.
- Trading up for Griffin, we gave up too much. Yet the Browns were willing to give more.
- Cousins was a bad pick, we didn't address other needs. Yet, the facts show otherwise.
- The Cousins pick will hurt RGIII's feelings. Yet it came out that he knew about the pick BEFORE ANY OF US.
- Naming RGIII the starter is wrong.... Yet, if we had waited till Aug, they'd have 1000 reports of Mike and RGIII not gelling...
It's a crock of...

Is it because we're bigger than the likes of the Colts..? Or is it that they're getting worried about us....??The Hogster wrote:The Colts drafted two QBs in this draft too. I'm pretty sure nobody thinks that is controversial, or would be surprised if Luck is named the starter right now.
Who owns the press over there? Wouldn't surprise me if Mara has a few hacks in his pocket to keep the negativity coming our way and gloss over their BS.
Man, what I'd give to go 6-0 against our division....

The media and some fans just love to throw BS at the Redskins - always have
AND
we have deserved a lot of the bias against us - Snyder is mainly to blame here
times have changed - but ...
it will still take time to change a lot of the bias - RGIII's presence alone will help ...
bot - Mike has 4 QBs because he can - he will NOT have 4 QBs on Sept 9th
Cousins is here to hopefully become the back-up QB - ASAP
EVERYONE that has anything to do with the offense is gearing up and preparing an offense that is run by and suits what RGIII can do
HOPEFULLY we do not see Grossman play another down in the regular season
