SportingNews: Team Report

Post by ANT7088 »

OLB Marcus Washington might end up being the team's most valuable offseason addition. An unheralded player who should be in the prime of his career, Washington can provide a pass rush off the edge, play the run and line up over the tight end and jam him. He is good enough in coverage that the team can afford to turn OLB LaVar Arrington loose more often.

Don't discount Lennie Friedman's chances of winning the starting center job over Cory Raymer. Friedman is smart, relatively mobile and has made excellent progress in recognizing defenses and making line calls. With the ability to play both guard spots, Friedman gives the club flexibility on game day.

TIGHT ENDS ANALYSIS: Walter Rasby has been a dependable blocker throughout his career, which is why he was re-signed by the team after he spent last season with the Saints. He does a good job of locking up linebackers and safeties and chipping on defensive tackles. Chris Cooley was drafted to be the receiving tight end/H-back. He has good hands, catches the ball well in traffic and is quick enough to get open against linebackers and strong safeties. If Cooley grasps the offense quickly, he can contribute immediately. The team still is looking for backups for Rasby. Robert Royal has been injured in two of his three seasons and faces stiff competition from Fred Baxter, Sean Brewer, Brian Kozlowski and Kevin Ware.

I really like Washington as well..he's going to get his name really known in the NFL this year...cause you know every team MUST look and say "where's 56?" when they walk up to the line and set their blocking scheme accordingly which is going to free Washington up and have a field day and when they have to adjust to block Washington, LaVar is going to have a field day...i think he's really capable of earning a Pro Bowl trip
Hail to the Redskins...Hail Victory!!!
