RGIII snubs Irsay and Colts....
Apparently, they asked him and his agent to have a private workout with Colts. They said: NO

so one person sharpens another.
so one person sharpens another.
Posted in the RG3 3 DC.. . Oh yeah thread:
I've come across a couple reports (Rich Tandler's Blog) saying that Griffin made the decision not to do ANY private workouts to force teams to come to his pro day in order to provide a showcase for all of his former teammates to get a look from as many scouts as possible.
Also, given that his Pro Day went so well for him, not sure why he'd want to do any private work outs beyond that.

I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

I honestly see this as a big negative. Everyone tells me he wants to be #1 he is a warrior hard worker. This is a potential employer asking you to come in for a second interview and him turning it down. Not only that he turned everyone down included the redskins. I think that is a poor showing. If you want a job and someone asks you to come interview you show up.
Luck also had a great pro day but he said yes.
Maybe this is why Luck is number 1 still.

Andrew Luck is and always has been THE best QB available in this draft - that has not changed one little bit
RG3 announced a long time ago that the only workouts he would give were at the combine and the Baylor pro day - the latter so his team mates could benefit
WAKE UP - he did not turn anyone down for workouts - there were none available
RG3 is going to be the second QB taken in the draft which is why we traded up to #2
If the Redskins had wanted to get Andrew Luck, they would have traded up to the #1 pick
END OF STORY - END OF SPECULATION
trust me on this

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

RGIII announced long before the Baylor Pro Day that he would NOT be doing any private workouts... why? Because he felt part of his role was to help showcase his team mates.
+1 for loyalty to team mates
+1 for doing exactly what he told all that he was going to do all along... DESPITE knowing that it might give Luck a leg up in the chase to be #1.
Beyond that, I suspect this decision was made easier by knowing that if the Colts don't take him, he will be playing for one of his childhood heroes...
There is nothing wrong with adhering to your principles...

He's not interviewing to work at McDonald's, this is the freaking NFL. The guy is projected to be one of the top two picks in the draft. He completely killed it at the combine and at his pro day, and his stock is never going to be higher. You don't put that at risk if you don't have to. That's not a negative or poor form. That's called following the sound advice of your agent and NOT BEING AN IDIOT.
You'll appreciate this when we're up 35 to 21 against Dallas late in the fourth quarter and RGIII is protecting the ball and running out the clock, not taking sacks and fumbling.

+1... but, he'll appreciate it even MORE when we are DOWN 35 to 21 against Dallas late in the fourth quarter, and RGIII is moving the team and keeping the clock alive, not letting the clock run out before... "TOUCHDOWN, Washington Redskins!"

Wouldn't it be more of a negative if he broke his word? RGIII told everyone weeks/months in advance that he wouldn't be giving private workouts so that he could maximize value for teammates when scouts came to see him and them at Baylor.
To make an exception purely for trying to upset Luck in the #1 spot would strike me as an opportunistic move that is a negative mark on the character side of things.

I don't buy a word of that. An 8-year old kid is idolizing a head coach and not Elway or Davis?? Please.

Where did he say he idolized Shannahan but did not idolize Elway or Davis? I idolized Joe Gibbs as a kid. I also idolized Art Monk and Dexter Manley. Those things are not mutually exclusive.

I was a kid when Vince Lombardi was in his prime... I idolized him. That did not keep me from having Bart Starr as a hero. I also revered Gil Hodges... and Eddie Brinkman. I remember being in awe of Red Auerbach when he was making a scouting run through DC... and stopped in to give a talk at my Junior High School...
Maybe I was wrong...

On Gruden Camp, RGIII said that he could live with being the second pick because he knows that the Redskins didn't give up all those picks for a second pick. In other words, he feels that he is the #1 Pick and for Skins fans that is all that counts that he wants to be here.
This is a potential employer asking you to come in for a second interview and him turning it down.
Potential employer? lol
Charley Casserly reported that RGIII's agent told the Texans that Mario Williams wouldn't be doing any private workouts. Everybody expected that the Texans would pick Reggie Bush. Casserly said that he relentlessly pursued RGIII's agent to prove that they were serious about Williams and it turned out they were. Let's see if Irsay will relentlessly pursue RGIII to show that he is serious. lol
Not only that he turned everyone down included the redskins. I think that is a poor showing.
Redskins publicly announced that they are not asking RGIII for a private workout. This was reported in PFT.
If you want a job and someone asks you to come interview you show up.
Would you want to play for the Colts or the Skins? RGIII knows what he is doing. He prefers the Skins.
.Maybe this is why Luck is number 1 still
Luck publicly said that he wants to go to the Colts. Luck is going where he wants and RGIII is going to the Skins. Not sure why you have a problem with that. Even if you prefer Luck., the Colts are going to draft Luck. Period. Even if RGIII could fly as one reporter said. Either guy would be happy to play for whoever drafts him, but one owner is playing games and the other is not - guess which owner is not?
