Can anyone advise me as to WTF is the rationale behind reducing our seating by 4000 to add a standing room only "party" section???? I just don't get it..?????

"the Danny" bought the team back when FedEx had 79000 seats and he added 12000.... My guess is he's in the process of undoing everything he's done to screw this team up, hope it takes less than a decade

I believe that there are two reasons:
One, there is no "waiting list" for season tickets - he is having trouble filling those seats.
Two, by replacing them with standing room only sections, Synder does not have to share revenue with the other owners because they these are not regular "seating".
If I am correct, Danny makes more money by eliminating seats.
1. Keeps his sellout streak in tact (Good for marketing) and doesn't have to worry about the embarrassment of "blackouts" in the local area.
2. He keeps all the money generated from the sales of these tickets.
3. More booze sold at games - After all, they are party decks.
Summary - It's about the M-O-N-E-Y!

OK, I went back and read the NFL.com article. "... should be a better fan experience?" So, he did it for the better fan experience.
RR, you are right, my answer makes a lot more sense than for "a better fan experience."
Dan timed this perfect for the arrival of RGIII. Redskins start winning and getting exciting while doing it. Demand for tickets goes up. Next year, ticket prices go up. No more phoney "sell outs" where left over tickets are sold to brokers - it will be like the good old days when you couldn't get a Redskin ticket. Nice going Danny. No one has accused you of being a lousy businessman.
“They will wind up with 79,000 seats, which is way down from their peak,” Samuel Wynkoop, the director of Prince George’s County Department of Environmental Resource, told The Post. “This is actually a net reduction, but it should be a better fan experience.”

I don't understand this "no waiting list" thing, because I've been on it for ten years and haven't gotten a call, letter or email (except for club seats). I put my wife on the list last summer incase they lost my name and haven't heard a peep.
Anyone been on the list for less than ten years and get tickets?

I don't know what list you are on....but I signed up for season tickets when Gibbs came back, and I was informed 3 years ago that I could purchase tickets up in the 400's. I was just in time for the first year of Zorn....and have had the "privelege" of being in the stands for some of the WORST years in Skins history. I came close to throwing in the season tic towel this year, and would have if we would not have made any move to get a QB. After seeing our moves in Free Agency, and with the draft, I renewed again.
On the positive side, I was in the 200's area last season, and hope to improve this season. Hopefully, by the time we are really competitive again, I will have GREAT seats!!!

I used to be 124,000 or something like that on the "waiting list." After two years, I started getinng emails and periodically, I still get emails saying my name came up and asking if I want to buy season tickets.
I called it the "no waiting list" because of all the articles that came out about it a couple of years ago. I didn't see the date on 1nik's article, but there were others. Also reported was Synder selling leftover tickets to brokers to brokers to say the games were sold out. I always wondered how the games were declared "sold out" when I would see thousands of tickets available on various websites. Further reported during that time, some of you may remember when Synder was suing a grandmother for trying to get out of her club ticket lease.

I am sure at one time the "waiting list" was legit, but now - it appears to be a marketing tool.
My suggestion is call the Redskin ticket office and ask if you can get season tickets for regular seats. I would not be surprised if you are successful.
When Synder does something like, give up 4,000 more seats, I am willing to bet, he found out another way to make more money.

I've been on the list since 2002 and each of the past three years I've gotten offers for season tickets and turned them down.
