This is my only question.

There are still questions on Trent's dedication, they are even more so now that he's a pot head who wasn't satisfied with being caught once and did it again. By deferring more pay, are we adding to our commitment/risk with him? I like with Fred how it's basically a one year deal with no commitment to see if he can get his shinola together.

Lavar says if we can't bring Fletcher back, we have to draft Sean Spence from Miami. He's crazy about Spence.

FIRSTLY - I would not pay ANY attention to what the idiot named Lavar says or thinks - ESPECIALLY if it's Lavar Arrington
I am not advocating that the Redskins should just pay the man "no matter what"
The Redskins need to get London Fletcher to sign a contract so he can be on the field AND he can be the defensive captain
Those are 2 separate but VERY connected jobs - got to be worth a lot

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

We may need to sign him anyways. As of right now, Perry Riley is the only ILB we have on the roster. We could potentially move Zo Alexander inside, but still, we need more inside.

Lavar is a goof at times, no doubt. hah. He said some good things about Spence though, and I'm willing to concede he knows what he's talking about when it comes to linebackers. Apparently, Michael Barrow is Spence's coach at Miami and really likes him, compares him to London Fletcher in terms of size and the way he plays. Lavar went to check out a workout in Miami and was pretty high on him for what its worth. Thinks he would be a steal if we could get him in the third round.
I'm starting to feel a little better about Fletcher this week, now that we've filed for arbitration. If the Skins think there is a chance they might get some of that cap space back, it makes some sense for both sides to stand pat a little longer. That would keep the Skins from having to cut players right now, and also allow Fletcher to get the best deal possible from the Skins. Any thoughts on that?

Per NFL radio it was reported that shanny said he is a valuable player on and off the field and THE leader of the defense. They are negotiating a contract and he wants nothing more then London to come back and he is sure he will.
It wasn't a real audio clip just a reporter sayin that's what he said..
I think shanny never intended to let London walk regardless of the cap penalties... From what I've read London fired his agent a while back - probably part of why he hasn't signed.. I see this clearing up when the cap pillaging does

He fired him with a offer on the table.
I've heard from multiple reports that they started talking again today.
JI Halsell said that the cap penalty is not holding up the deal, he said it's a dispute over the value of the player and that if both sides wanted to get the deal done it could be structured in a way that makes it happen.
The problem is what Flecther thinks he's worth and how much of that money he can get now.

Its true. There is no other team in the league where he is more valuable than to Washington.

That's REALLY interesting. I hope they can come to terms without it getting ugly. I'd like to see Fletcher be one of those guys who sticks around DC even after his playing days are over.
Fletcher is playing here this year
not having an agent is a bigger problem than the cap space
he's going to get the money - he's not going to get the years

This arbitration hearing is holding this up. He should get a 2-3 year deal that is basically a series of 1 year deals.
If I'm the Skins, I give him around $5M per year guaranteed with some escalators for (i) leading the league in tackles, (ii) making the Pro Bowl, and (iii) the defense finishing in the Top 5.
Total deal would look like 3 Years $25M but be more like 3 Years $15M

I know he fired one but, I assumed he picked up another.
Yeah, no wonder its taking a while.
I guess since he's had something like 5-6 contracts in his career, he feels he doesn't need one. He's probably right as long as he hires an attorney with knowledge of the NFL to review it. This should be a pretty straightforward deal for him.
Guarantees for skill and/or injury & determining his Likely To Be Earned and Unlikely To Be Earned Incentives should be the only real points of contention.
If I'm the Skins, I'm only guaranteeing him for Skill. Not Injury at his age. And, I'd tie some of his incentive based money to the overall performance of the Defense. Everyone knows he's a tackling machine. I want to see him lead this defense to the Top 5.

May #21 never be worn again by another Redskin but may every Redskin play like they are wearing #21 on their backs.
