Will Cooley return to form...?

Talk about the Washington Football Team here. Do you bleed burgundy and gold?

Will Cooley return to form...?

Post by tribeofjudah »

I really like CC and I hope he and Davis can play together and dominate ala Gronk/Hernandez.

I wonder if he'll come back, true to form...? Any other news about Cooley?

That's good news. He needs to look good otherwise his place in the 53 is under threat.

I was thinking last year he was doing a Portis, looking slow and past his best. If the injuries clear up properly he could be a tremendous asset next season, on and off the field, for a young offense.

Though I hope for the best from Cooley, I'm not holding my breath. He hasn't done anything impressive in almost two years now.

Yeah, this is sad. He's my favorite Redskin, but his days have looked numbered the last couple of seasons.

Cooley is one of my favorite Redskins of all time, but it's time for him to get out--further injury not needed.

Cooley's one of several though hurt by the lockout last year and not getting medical attention. I think it's worth one more go if he feels up to it.

Cooley is the man! I've loved what he's brought to this team since we drafted him. The way he's tried to rekindle the Skins/Cowpie rivalry over the years with his videos about Romo and Witten or his fro and throw back shorts in training camp were hilarious (and reminded me of a certain :hail: Redskin Great from whom I take my screen name).

I agree the lockout last year hurt his recovery. I'd love to see him step his game back up. He and Davis together would be just a nasty threat regardless of who we get at QB.

It's a rare site anymore to see a player get drafted and retire on the same team, but I can't picture Capt. Chaos in anything but burgundy and gold.

Shanny said earlier today that CC is having a very good off-season.... Davis could be gone in "a puff of Smoke", so I don't think Cooley will be going anywere

I love Cooley, but I think this is a BS excuse. These guys are millionaire pro athletes and can't take it upon themselves to seek treatment on their own? Are all the knee experts in the country working for the Redskins and thus unable to see them? Nonsense.

I hope he gets squared away and gets confidence in his knee again. Cooley/Davis/Griffin on the field is dangerous by itself without counting the other weapons we have.

As long as Cooley wants to play for a reasonable salary--then I think he hangs on. I just don't expect him to be the Cooley we used to know as surprisingly agile, able to consistently break tackles, tip toe the sidelines, and waddle 30-40 yards.

I LOVE THAT PIC!!!

Never seen it before, you all probably have, but that's just a great shot.

He deserves a new contract on the basis of that photo alone!!!

I said the same about Rogers and getting his eyes checked, but this isn't the same. We're talking about athletes and sports injuries, specialists don't grow on trees for that.

I think CC will bounce back this year. Listening to him on the Junkies' show during the season, you could tell he was dying to be out there on the field.

I was on the trade Cooley Wagon 2 years ago during the first emegence of Davis.... I love Cooley for everything that he has done for us but he should have been gone in 2009.

So you're not counting his 2010 season (the season before last) where he was in the top three in both catches and yards. So only two other TEs had a better season than him, but I guess that is him not doing anything!

Good point! But to be fair he did say "in *almost* two years".

I agree with your sentiment though. I know Fred Davis was having a breakout year last year, but he could hardly seem to get on the field while Cooley was healthy. To his credit, Fred put up awesome numbers while smoking a lot of weed. Let's see Cooley do that...

I hope that Cooley can come back and return to form. Although I still say that the skins draft a TE in the 5th round to add for depth.

Must have gotten hold of some of that high grade Jamaican weed, that'll make you break a few tackles that stuff!!!!

What smoke weed or put up good numbers while smoking weed?

I'm sure Davis is now the #1 TE, but RG3 would bennefit a LOT by having them both on the field at the same time!

I could see Garcon, Gafney, Davis, and Cooley all with 70 receptions for 800-1100 yards each.

Cooley will help this offense but he's not the best TE here anymore

his role has changed and he's still going to help but his value is here not elsewhere

Davis and Williams concern me a lot - to put your own wants in front of your team mates is one thing - to get caught twice is REALLY bad

KNOWING what was at stake and doing it anyway has got to be a HUGE concern

Mike has no choice but .... BOTH these guys have a very difficult road ahead of them here

Cooley will help here but he's not the player he was
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Cooley was Cooley is get off it brothers... He IS the doode. Ya Davis had wide open passes last year while after cooleys first year he was being game planned for and killing it. I love Davis but to put a hurt Cooley blindly behind Fred is some dumb badword badword... Cooley can be slower catch less but will always have more heart and for sure is pure bred burgundy and gold more so then any player we have save Fletcher. He will be better next year and yes better then Fred, with a real qb of course. No one ever seen him man handle Fred in a friendly wrestling match? Shame on all Cooley haters, he is my fn hero. Over and out CooooooooOoooOOOOooooooo
