If he wants to to play for a good team, he'll jump at the chance to come back - that's what players do when trhey only sign a 1 year deal
they go to a better team
The Jets are going nowhere and besides, we always get any player we want from them

^^ Yup... no matter what happens... Laron Landry is gone... for good... and the Jets will be competing for a Superbowl.crazyhorse1 wrote:SkinsJock wrote:^^^ that's easy, Canes - IF Landry's good to go and we think he can help ... we'll just bring him back

Super bowl bound? With Sanchez?? If they had Laron at 100% they still aren't one of the top teams.. I'd put buffalo above them w Texans bmore Pitt NE the top runners. Is also say Oakland Tennessee chargers and possibly Broncos are as good or better. NyJ is the pit of the AFC. Loud mouthed hooligans that the loud mouth coach can't keep a chain on. Team mates publicly talk trash about.their qb? That's a recipe for superbowl?

first of all, no one said "Superbowl Bound" Twisting words does not become you.
Please... you tell me you saw the Giants in the mix last year... riiiiiiight...
But, no matter how you slice it, the Jets are in the mix. As much as I wish for their continued humiliation (mostly due to the Spawn of Buddy), they are in the top quarter of the NFL at the moment. Sanchez is likely to be among the ranks of the journeymen, it's true, but superbowls have been won by a good number of good, servicable quarterbacks.
Laron will not be back. Ever. And, that's the point. Don't hope for a rebirth, and a sudden craving to wear B&G again. Remember... he was willing... the 'skins were not. He won't forget that. Yeah... it's "just bidnezz"... but putting the 'skins at the bottom of the list when FA rolls around next year would be "just bidnezz" too...
This is not an indictment of the team's handling of this... they made the only choice that they realistically could, especially with the league's theft of precious cap space. That pretty much doomed any hope of a return of Dirty Thirty to the team.

I'm a Landry fan but I don't think these guys are keeping any players that they are not absolutely sure will be able to contribute
I don't agree with the thought that the Jets might be in the top 6 in the AFC
They have been very competitive but they are just not able to get it over the finish line
I'm not anti the Jets - they are just mired in the same, never quite enough group ,, just like the eagles

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Landry
Like many, while I am sad to see a "original" Redskin leave....i.e. one drafted by us and with us for several seasons....kind of like the player that our Coach and GM say they want for the team......I can understand this. Landry was oft injured, and would not conform to what the team requested WRT handling of his achilles injury. Additionally, I am in agreement with some opinions on NLF radio today concerning this signing by Jets, as I am not sure if Landy's head is really still into football as he looks more like an Arnold clone that a pro safety.
Like other "original" Redskins that have left us, I certainly wish him well and good health (especially since he is in the AFC now).......but I also agree that he will never be a Skin again, he definitely feels slighted from what I read.

That's the best deal Landry could get. The Jets are not taking more than a 1 year bet on Landry's health.
Still, I would love to make $500k per game. I know, $4M/16 is a1/4 million, but it is 1/2 mil / game over the 8 games he will play.
The details of Landry's contract have come out. Not as good as it was reported.

Very interesting structure on the Landry deal: $700k base, $950k SB and a roster bonus paid out per week if he is on 46-man roster. #nyj

A roster bonus for each week he is on the 46 man roster not 53, so he has to be active.

Laron was a victim of two situations:
1) His unwillingness to undergo surgery; and
2) Reduced cap space after the NFL cap penalty.
I had tremendous high hopes for him when he first arrived. He never delivered the way I expected. Good? Yes! Pro-bowl? Definitely not. He was never an elite safety in the NFL.
Not going to enter into the speculation of what couda, shouda, or wouda happened IF Sean Taylor had been around. I have no question in my mind that the history of the Skins, including Joe Gibbs II, would have been different. But that is another painful story. Living in the present, not in the past.
He wanted out. It was time. Thanks and good luck.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Jenny Vrentas of the Newark Star-Ledger has the details of the one-year, $3.5 million deal that Landry signed with the Jets and it has a weekly roster bonus that makes half of the total salary contingent on Landry being in the lineup.

WOW. Talk about incentive-laden. LL will have to prove himself if he ever wants starter money again in this league.

I don't think that the reduced salary cap had anything to do with this.

Best of luck to you, Landry. Now you can take about a hundred pictures of yourself shirtless in front of the mirror in New York instead of DC.
Lol, I know, right? Keep lifting weights buddy instead of getting achilles surgery. An achilles isn't serious or anything but bicep curls make you a better football player.
