Hightower rescued from Camelback Mountain

Hightower rescued from Camelback Mountain in Arizona

PHOENIX - A couple who went for an evening hike on Camelback Mountain Thursday ended up needing some help, and the man who needed help is reportedly a former Cardinals player.

Witnesses called the Fox 10 newsroom to report that the man needing aid was Tim Hightower.

Hightower is now with the Redskins, and his wife is Krista Hightower.

The couple ended up hiking off-trail and getting lost, and then it became too dark for them to make it down.

The pair wasn't hurt, but the challenge for crews was climbing up there in the dark and bringing them down safely.

Phoenix firefighters aren't confirming or denying that the couple needing aid was the Hightowers.

However, rescuers drove an SUV up to the base of the mountain, and a man who looked like Hightower got inside. The woman he was with then got into the driver's seat and drove off.

Nope, not confirmed that it was him may not get confirmed, but if it was and he's out hiking, he might be worth bringing back to mentor last years rookies while helping carry the load.

Gotta be a joke. I lived in Paradise Valley for a couple years and our back yard backed up to the mountain. Mountain is an exaggeration because it is actually 2 humpy hills about 1.5 miles end to end and .5 miles wide, at its widest point.

No one, I mean no one gets lost on Camelback Mountain. It is surrounded by homes and lights from Phoenix, Paradise Valley and Scottsdale. It is never dark because of all of the lights from the cities. There is no place on that "mountain" that you cannot see city lights and there are hiking trails all over it.

From the video, it looks like they weren't so much lost as they were stranded . . . somehow in a position where they couldn't ascend/descend to a place where they could keep going down the mountain.

That makes more sense. I was like awas, how can you get "lost" on Camelback? I didn't live in Phoenix but I've spent time there and hiked Camelback. It's not big, but it isn't an easy climb and this makes sense, especially if it's getting dark. But I think morning is a better time before the sun comes up. Even this early in the spring the sun gets pretty intense during the day.

I hope we re-sign him, he played pretty well in the preseason and beginning of the year before the injury bug started attacking. I like a backfield of him and Helu with a little Royster sprinkled in.
