Why the Washington Redskins Will Win the 2013 SuperBowl

Post by jr_uscg »

Okay I've been coming here for almost years, but I really don't have time to post a lot of things. Not sure if I'm posting this article correctly, but I'll give it a shot. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1071 ... wl-in-2013

If I jacked this up, it's on the BleacherReport. I totally agree with this article, but I might be a little bias.

fun to read but there's so much luck in getting to the super bowl that it isn't funny. And that's all injury related. Also we need to resign some of our players instead of having change.

So true, but we are an up and coming team. Shanny has already cleaned up most of Vinny and Snyders garbage. Just nice to read a positive article about the Redskins. Hope to see more in the future.

Love the optimism! This line kind of blows my mind:

"In the 2012 draft, the Redskins will continue to add depth to the D-line which will give the Redskins one of the strongest D-lines in the entire league."

Doesn't seem like that long ago our d-line was just awful.

I think by re-signing Carriker and keeping the guys we have. If Jenkins pans out to be what we have heard. I think the D-line will be dominant, As is.

Remember, back last summer, the geneal vibe coming out of Ashburn was that Jarvis Jenkins was the best looking prospect out of that entire draft class. Thats pretty impressive if you consider the production we got out of the rest of the rookies.

As far as the Superbowl goes, we have to win the division. We seem to have NY figured out and we're always competitive against Dallas. We didnt fair so well against Philly, and they look to be getting stronger. What I see in the Philly match -up is a huge desparity in team speed. (its always the basics)

I think he's close but I'd be really surprised if we are the next SB Champs

Stranger things have happened - the Giants won and they were not one of the top 3 in the NFC

I do believe we are in the playoffs and we do have the best HC in the NFC East
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Best HC?

Shanahan has one playoff win in the last 12 years.
Caughlin in that time 9 playoff wins and 2 Super Bowl rings.

In his 8 years with the Giants Caughlin has had one losing record.
In that same timeframe Shanhan has had three seasons with losing records, including 3 out of the past four years.

You can have Coughlin - I'd rather have Shanahan

when it's time to go into the HOF - Shanahan is a first ballot - Coughlin might get in

Lucky? You don't win the Super Bowl by being lucky. NY fans moan and complain about every coach unless they're winning a championship every year. Same thing happens with Joe Girardi.

The fact is that Shanahan has been mediocre as a coach since Elway retired. He is overrated as a coach and has been getting by on his success with Elway.

Based on? Shanahan (160-113) has a career winning percentage of 58 percent, while Caughlin (154-121) is at 52 percent.

Caughlin has a better playoff record (12-7) than Shanahan (8-5).

Both have 2 Super Bowl rings as head coaches.

Tell me what about that is clear cut as far as Hall of Fame credentials.

Actually, the G-strings have won several SBs with a great deal of luck on their side. Scott Norwood ring any bells?

Of course you can... see Barry Switzer. Also, see Tom Coughlin. The primary difference between the two, is that Coughlin's been twice as lucky.

My only point here has been that the giants won 2 Super Bowls with a lot of luck involved

I'm hoping that we're seeing the beginings of a franchise that has a very competitive product on the field all the time

I just don't like Coughlin and I think that this FO and Shanahan are on the right track

ALSO ... put another way - Shanahan would do a better job as a HC with the same players than Coughlin

we badly need a QB - if we'd had decent play from the QB this season we could even have won the NFC East .... with a little luck
not because we're consistently competitive yet but because the other 3 teams played badly too
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

The kind that can look at another team's coach objectively. One losing record in eight years, compared to 3 in the last four seasons. I know which one I'd take.

C'mon Canes - it's a fact that you do not like that Mike is the HC of the Redskins

how can you then state that you're being objective?

I don't like Coughlin and hence my statement - I qualified my feeling - I'm biased

Shanahan is doing well with what he's got here and he's going to get this franchise back into shape

I'm a fan, not an objective analyst. We are better than the Giants in every category. End of story. :)

In two years he has one less win than Zorn did. How is he doing well? The last time he had an above .500 record was in 2006. When he starts winning ball games I'll be impressed.

You can lead a horse to water .....

Canes - you are a part of a very small minority if you don't think that this franchise is better off right now than it was after 2 years with Zorn

we were an embarrassment - we are not there yet but this FO and this HC are responsible for really decent gains

I don't really care - you're just never going to like what Shanahan achieves here

Well get prepared to be impressed my friend. If we draft as well as we did last year and get that QB we need then we'll win this division.

If you take away the starting QBs from our division rivals there is really very little to seperate any of the four teams in my opinion.

Agreed. Our Roster was in bad shape, and we lacked a QB. This regime has improved the talent and youth on our roster. Our Cap Health has been rehabilitated too. Being a consistent winner requires this cycle to be repeated year in and year out. The piece we need now is a QB.

Only thing I will fault Shanahan for was his whiffing on QB moves. While I'm not a Jason Campbell supporter, we coulda gotten more out of him, or just leaving Rex as the guy for the entire time. The Beck & McNabb girations resulted in a few more losses than needed.
SPIT HAPPENS!!
