Have you been talking to Donavan McNabb?
Donavan was a little different. Remember that at one time James Thrash was his top receiver. His problem was he was not able to do what our coaches wanted him to do. That is what Philly fans have told me that made them upset with him.

Then why fired McCardell?
The writing was on the wall with him since last year... he was, apparently, the only offense coach not offered a new contract then. Look, the head coach, OC, and DC have every reason to have staff that they feel they can work with... apparently, that wasn't true of McCardell, for what ever reason. May not be "fair", but so what?
Regarding using a "new" coach... well... they all started somewhere.
Chris, you are right... you can't coach talent... but you can coach the system, technique, reads, and routes... some coaches do that better than others.

McCardell to Hilliard is a lateral move IMO. I dont think Jerry Rice could have gotten much better play out of this group of recievers considering QB play. I have bigger concerns on the coaching staff.
Keeping a Shannahan "yes man" (Matt Lefluer) on board, after the failure of every guy hes coached since he's been here? really?
And this is the guy we are going to trust to mold a future franchise QB for us? He was another guy that raved about Beck last summer. I dont know whether he believed it but, it kept his job for him. It sure wasnt the way he coached up Beck and Grossman. Neither one of those guys showed any progress in play or decision making. Yeah, he was here for the McNabb mess too.
Its obvious to me, these coaching changes are'nt perfomance based, otherwise Lefluer's butt would have been the first one to hit the sidewalk.
No matter how good a coach is there is little he can do when he doesn't have the players with talent to work with
I'd agree that the offense has many issues AND that the OC needs to game plan and play call to suit the players he has more than just doing what he thinks will work - I just don't think that much of the blame is on the position coaches as it is a result of the years of player acquisition here with no regard for building an offense that has players that make each other better
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
Anyone care to remember the name, Charley Taylor? Skins HOF WR went to the Super Bowl as a player, and also went to the Super Bowl as the WR Coach under Joe Gibbs. Of course that's so long ago that it might be hard for some of you guys to remember.

I remember him. And, I know his daughter personally. Great player.

Those were great times; Sonny and Charley.
Yes... Sonny, Charley, Bobby Mitchell, and Jerry Smith. 3 are in the HOF... it's a travesty that the 4th isn't. But, yes... great memories.

Lafluer worked with McNabb, Grossman, and Beck... Lafluer is a Quarterbacks coach, he needs a QB to coach. Matt Schaub didn't do to bad when he was his coach.

It sure would be nice to have a healthy Matt Schaub type as our QB along with some beast WR.

I thought Shaub was a good QB before he left Atlanta. I dont know how much Lafluer had to do to adjust his game. Ill Agree that Shaub has more talent than the others. My point was that you saw little to no improvement out of the position regardless who was playing.
OK, so Beck only got 3 starts but, you saw Grossman making the same mistakes week in and week out. If you are going to get rid of personnel based on performance, hes gotta go. If he cant tweak a vetran QB's game, how do we trust him with a rookie?

3 out 4 of those past greats are in my Avatar. Ah, those were days.

Shaub had a 7-11 W-L record in Atlanta, he completed 104 of 164 passes for 1033 yards 6 picks and 6 TDs, he wasn't bad but his best years as a pro were the two that Lafluer was his coach.

Actually they have to decide if its the coach or the players, MS said can get rid of the coach or the QB... McNabb was traded and it ain't looking too good for Grossman.
I'm thinking they just went in a different direction with the WRs coaching position

Now that you mention it, they have ranked in the lower third for the last four years in post-it notes and were dead last in call answering efficiency in the red zone this year. I think we need some new talent.
