Talk about the Washington Football Team here. Do you bleed burgundy and gold?

Bring back Burgandy Uniforms

Post by Gibbs4Life »

Our Uniform colors are now Ronald Mcdonald red and yellow. Look at the Uni's from 1991, we have a dark rich burgandy, those were the colors I fell in love with, how did we get to the current red and yellow?

Couldn't agree more. I do prefer the yellow/"gold" pants as well but would also definitely like to see them go back to a true burgundy and pair it with a "golder" looking "gold" (it's supposed to be burgundy and gold, not Ronald McDonald red and Traffic Sign Yellow).

I like the current uniforms.

While I don't have any animosity towards the uniforms discussed in the OP. Redskins fans undying yearning for anything from the 80's and 90's repulses me at this point. I'd pick Electric Yellow just to spite people.

LOL!

I don't really care all that much although the Ronald McDonald colors just mean I am less likely to buy or wear any Redskins gear outside of game day.

Go back to the 1972 true burgundy and true Redskin gold pants.

(And anything beats discussing the draft, the need for a QB, and the variety of things that be done between now and then.)

If we win, I don't care what we wear. With that said, I would like to see something different. Not with anything significant, but I like the new muted helmets that teams like Oregon wears. Instead of the shiny old-school helmet we wear, I think a muted Burgundy helmet along with the gold pants and gold shoes would be a good look.

The key is winning though.

Agreed. Our colors are burgundy and gold. So our uniforms should be the same colors.

I don't see any differences between the "burgandy" now and the color we wore in the first Gibbs era. The main difference is Gibbs almost never let the team wear anything but a white jersey. Now when you buy a jersey there are so many different shades of burgany that I don't think I have two that match. Rebok, Champion, and Starter jerseys are all different shades.

The yelow pant we wear are the same basic shade of yellow that the George Allen Skins wore.

I prefer the dark burgandy and gold pants that we wore on out throw be unis.

In general I would love for use to do a uniform change. How many teams have a uniform that hasn't been revised at least once since 1983 (our last time - I don't count adding 70s yellow pants as a uni change)? And the only change then was from the straight feather to the curved feather and then back.

I agree on both points.. Im also a fan of the muted helmets and I think if done tastefully it could look really good ..

BUT winning is all that matters to me as well

See uniform in GoSkins avatar. That's the look. Or else the 1972 uniform, which was pretty much the same but with a helmet much like the one the Redskins use today.

Sorry but Gibbs had it right. Whiite with burgundy pants, that's the look I feel in love with but more importantly its the look we won three Superbowls in. Its classic and classy if only because of that. That look reminds opponets we're a team to respected and reminds our players of what they have to live up to.

Did Billy Kilmer wear true burgundy and gold? Did Sonny? or Charley? or Larry Brown? Or Di-RON? Or Slingin' Sammy?
