Joe Paterno Reportedly on Suicide Watch

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

He's like 90 and has Cancer. That's not suicide watch. It's natural causes watch. Besides, why is this a shock given the nature of the scandal that brought him from Legend & Icon to pariah?

So at 90 with cancer, you wouldn't put him on the stand to see how much he really knew?

If he still around when the trails start....

On the stand for what? Sandusky is facing criminal charges. If Paterno was subpoenaed as a witness, all he would need to do is plead the 5th. Besides, if he lies and says he knows nothing--assuming he'd even testify--it would require a huge diversion to then put him on trial for lying in court--it's called Impeachment and adds time and expense to the case where the real victims are those young boys.

The issue in the criminal case is whether Sandusky molested those boys--a violation of criminal law. Knowing a crime might have happened isn't illegal even if you don't report it. It's more a moral and ethical indictment than anything.

If the accusers sue Paterno, it would be in his capacity as an employee of PSU. PSU would be included in that lawsuit. Again, Paterno's presence is unnecessary to either trial.
