Post by DFlo »

Hey guys, I've updated my mock draft for the 3/4 point of the season.

You can check it out here: http://www.footballdraftnotebook.com/MockDraft2012.html

Let me know what you think. Would love to hear your feedback!

I've also added a Draft Order section that I will be updating weekly for the next 4 weeks

Khalil said that he is going to stay at USC. More than likely, that means that Barkeley will too. They will be done with NCAA sanctions so they're going to try to play for a Nat. Championship.

I like how Barkley holds the ball much better than RG III. It's a much better position to make throws.

If the draft order is unchanged, it's almost unthinkable that either the Jags or Rams, both teams with significant needs across the roster, don't auction their pick to teams looking to leapfrog the Skins.

It's still too early to know what order the QBs are going to go, but hard to imagine the second guy's still there if the Skins are picking at 5. Individual players at CB and WR (especially) just aren't that valuable.

I anticipate that Barkley's stock will continue to increase. That being said, only a couple of teams will be in the position to move up -- that desperately need a QB. The teams that will be looking for a QB in the first are us, Seattle, and Miami. Therefore, only Miami and Seattle would move up.

If Seattle keeps winning (and they still play CHI and ARZ), they will have a mid to late round first. If they wanted to move up and take a top 5 pick, they would most likely have to give up their first rounder and next years first -- I am not sure they would be willing to do that. As far as Miami -- there is a 90% chance they will lose the rest of their games as they play NE, the Jests, and Buffalo (away). They could easily pass over us. There is a pretty good chance we will win one of their remaining games -- we only have one team (NYG) with a winning record left on our schedule. I am fairly confident we will beat MINN at home; giving us at least a 5-11 record (and perhaps 6-10 since there is a good chance we will beat the Eagles) and the third QB pick. And if Barkley is available, I am 90% sure they will draft him -- especially when they'll have a new coach coming in (since coaches tend to want to bring in "their guy").

Personally, I think we'll have the 3rd choice at QB. My gut tells me some scouts will have reservations with RGIII after a more detailed analysis of his game. He has great tools and intangibles. The major aspect hurting him is that RGIII has not shown what he is capable of doing in a pro-style, under center offense -- and in a scouts eyes this means that there is less certainty with the pick. There will also be questions regarding RGIII's accuracy, footwork, and timing -- since majority of his passes have been out of the shotgun and in the short to medium range. I wouldn't even be surprised to see RGIII's stock fall to the mid-first round range -- although since he is a QB, he will get drafted in the top 10.

Barkely, on the other hand, has shown he can succeed in a pro style offense and put up huge numbers. No one will question his accuracy or ability to make reads. The only question scouts will have is his ceiling. He appears to be "coached up" and doesn't have more room for improvement-- very similar to the way Clausen was entering the 2009 draft.

Therefore, unless the skins trade up in front of Miami, we either get RGIII or Jones -- but I hope I'm totally off-base with this assesment.
RIP Sean Taylor. You will be missed.

We don't know who these guys think can help them at QB from the draft - Luck & Barkley almost certainly will be gone

We should NOT trade ANY draft picks - we have too many needs

No matter who they draft they cannot put him on the field until he and the rest of the offense can operate properly
I hope we can find a FA QB to come in and start for a while no matter who these guys draft

the FO, scouts and everybody involved, have to have another great draft

ALL of these kids have talent, finding the right match with the drive to be successful is key
NO MORE questianable character types like Williams or Davis
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Frank, whats your opinion on RG III? I don't watch college football so I really do not know. I have watched his highlights and I have to say I am impressed with his throws. He can scramble to the left or right and throw on the run and still be accurate down field. When I watch him run I see him cut like a running back and stiff arm defenders and make more cuts and turn up the speed. I wouldn't want him to be a Mike Vic. I would only want him to take off if our line fails.

You watch college football. What is your opinion?

I do watch college but not baylor. I've watched two of his games and to be honest with you, I really do like what he can do. He's also a track star too. Can't remember what he runs but he's a very good athlete who can make all the throws and is known for having a good deep ball. Outside of that, that's all I know about the guy.

If we land Barkley, RG3 or Landry Jones, I would consider that a win. I think Landry Jones will take a bit more time to adjust from the spread offense but will be a very good pro.

RG3 has all of the talent in the world, but he will be hamstrung by coaches who are reluctant to adjust their offense. Maybe Cam Newton & Tebow open the door for more spread formations, option runs etc. But, if not, he could be in for a long development curve coming from the spread as well.

Hopefully coaches will realize that there are more than a few ways to play QB and allow RG to do what he does while he adjust to becoming an NFL passer from under center.
SPIT HAPPENS!!

The rookie QB will need a lot of help

Mike & Bruce HAVE to resolve the QB issue here - AND it's not just the QB but Kyle's offense that needs help

Kyle must be made aware that the offense has a better chance of success if it is built around & game planned to suit the players he has

Kyle has shown over the past 2 years here, that 'his' offense just needs to be executed properly by the players without ANY regard for whether it suits the players he has available

We do need to get better play from the QB - PLUS we MUST draft a QB for the future

Mike needs to help show his son how to better orchestrate the offense as well

we are most likely drafting a QB that will require some time to get ready - hopefully he will get that
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

Having a new QB with no o-line and no weapons on offense is going to be tough.

Don't look now but I think we do have a good collection of talent on offense...Helu, Hankerson, Moss, Cooley, Davis, Gaffney.

I agree, we need several more upgrades at OLine

Let's wait for the games to finish. A lot of teams with poor records are winning today.
