(1) He's young
(2) He's got a big leg
(3) His kickoffs are fantastic
(4) Upside. I think he'll develop.
(5) Replacing him with a better, young player via free agency is probably less than a 50/50 shot — and I don't think we can afford to gamble with a draft pick on someone else
(6) I've seen worse from Redskins kickers over the last 10 years
(7) We've dropped some other kickers too soon in the recent past, so I'd like to see us keep this one for at least another year
[8] Definitely don't just cut him outright: at the very least, just bring in competition into camp next year. If he doesn't earn his spot, you won't hear me complain when he's gone.

Are eight reasons good enough? ;)

OK Bru....

Big leg....... (steroid big...???)...oh you mean "strong" leg
Kickoffs are good.......not the one that went out of bounds

"Big leg" just means strong leg in football talk.
Kickoffs are good.......not the one that went out of bounds
Of course that one kickoff was not good. I'm talking about the big picture. For instance, guess where the Redskins are in NFL rankings for kickoffs? Near, or possibly at, the top. (We were number 1 as of a couple of weeks ago . . . don't know where we are now.)

Coach calls kick to the corner (to keep Washington pinned to one side of the field)... that's not automatic (the kicker can't check his angles, like he can on a field goal attempt)... that's a percentage play by the coach, and is much on him as on Gano.

He is the best in the league on average starting field position on KO last 2 years among outdoor kickers.
