DeAngelo Hall Thinks the Redskins Should Cut Him

DeAngelo Hall thinks the Redskins should cut him
Posted by Michael David Smith on November 20, 2011, 8:20 PM EST

Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall gave up a 24-yard Dez Bryant touchdown in the first quarter of today’s loss to the Cowboys, and a crucial 26-yard Bryant catch in overtime was Hall’s fault, too. Afterward a dejected Hall said the Redskins would be better off without him.

“I can’t point a finger at anybody but myself. The way I’m playing right now, they need to go and cut me, because I’m definitely not worth what I’m getting. It’s frustrating,” Hall told the Associated Press.

Hall wasn’t saying he wants out of Washington. He says he wants to stay. But he also says he realizes that the quality of his play is totally unacceptable.

“Hopefully they see something in me and bring me back next year,” Hall added. “But the way things are going right now, I’m definitely not playing up to par.”

Hall’s bad day was a big reason the Redskins failed to win despite a surprisingly solid effort from their offense. At least Hall knows he has himself to blame.

Anybody disagree with Hall? At the end of the season, I think we should make him take a pay cut and move him to nickel. He would be a great nickel guy.

What a difference in his attitude after this Dallas game as compared to the last one.

I doubt he'll come back for what he's actually worth. I'm worried that we'll keep him as our #1 for next year.

There are worse things, though, than having Hall as your starting corner. Can we really pursue a top-notch CB prospect while focusing on getting a QB and and a tackle/guard (plus some badly needed depth)?

It's been a long time coming. Apart from his 4 INTs in that one game and a few picks here and there...........Hall has been a NON-FACTOR.

How many pass defenses has he had? How many batted balls?

It's about time he owned up to his lack luster play. Wilson isn't that much better. We need fast cover corners....the likes of D. GREEN.

With our luck.......we cut Hall and he BALLS OUT for another team and goes to several pro bowls.

He has already played for other teams - what we see is what everyone got and was glad to let go.

thank GOD we let that terrible corner Rogers go that everyone hated..

he may not have been able to hold onto the ball but he was underrated in coverage and has always been better than Hall IMO.. but everyone was more than happy to let him walk ..

yet another mistake by the Redskins front office.. we never keep our own

Lots of holes. Too many to fill at once. Ideally, yes, Hall becomes .05 at reduced salary.

Try the Gibbs approach: over-powering OL and DL. Overpowering defined as: Redskins OL protects the QB without help; DL pressures opposing QB without blitzes.

(See "The Higs" and "The National Defense".)

Add three great WRs ("The Posse")

Then QB and runners look better.

Hall's an idiot.
What he should do is take a pay cut.
Extend his career 5 years and play Nickle.

That's something he would be quite good at.

I ONLY have ONE question:

Who was the stupid idiot who left Hall cover Dez Bryant one-on-one in the most critical play of the game to get a 1st down in the drive that won them the game???

Sure Hall played one of the worst games of his career BUT we all knew he could not cover Bryant alone!!!

Where were the safeties???

We need a top CB. Forget the crap of Carlos. He did not want to stay here. But Hall cannot come back with that salary. He is an opportunistic player not a reliable down to down CB. A nickel role would not be a bad idea indeed.

Too many holes guys, too many to be competitive and aspire to get a winning record (or even a 8 - 8 )

That's it, I have to eat CROW now:

I had hoped for an 8 - 8 season. No more.

I am just hoping to give a chance to some new players and try others at various positions. There is NOTHING to lose now.

Robinson, Witten, Bryant... Who do you not double cover? They all made plays that last drive.

Nickel CB would not be a good idea as they usually are required to cover the slot man to man....something we know Hall cannot do. He's better off in zone. I say cut him after this season. He'd be good in a Tampa 2 type defense, but ask him to cover man to man and he's useless.

I say good riddance to Hall. He was burned at least 4 times in yesterday's game. And he's a constant trash talker on the field regardless if we're winning or not.

Exactly. He will be the 'Skins number one corner for at least another year and probably longer. If he's serious about feeling overpaid, he should donate the overage amount to the charity of his choice and not whine about it to the media.

He was just taking the heat off of Gano. In a few weeks you will hear him talking about how he did that to "be a team player".

This guy is just another trash talking underperforming VT player. They breed trash.

DHall had a bad game obviously but people have to realize it not always all on the defensive backs. Nnamdi Asomagua has been beat just as much as Hall. There is no cb that hasn't been torched this year. Its a passing league guys will get beat.

Romo specifically has beat us every single time on critical plays and even beat us last year but there was a holding call that negated the touchdown ( I think he would have still gotten away even without the hold).

When will we learn to sack this guy? Orakpo has been owned by Doug Free, it makes no sense. Every single time they get close to sacking Romo and he gets away. WRS going to get open when you give the qb 4-5 seconds to throw the ball.

Hall still one of the few on the team that actually gives a damn. One of few that have fight in him. He will bounce back.

I know most of you would disagree, but I would actually entertain trade offers for Landry.

Get anyone else. You can't help the club when you're in the tub. I think he's been way overrated by the fan base in general. The guy is great in run support, but gets beat constantly in coverage. He is still highly viewed by some teams around the league. I would look to move him for some picks if a team bites.

Landry probably has multiple pro bowls in his first few years with his new team if we're dumb enough to let him go.
