Skins - Cowboys postgame thread

Post by Irn-Bru »

Obviously it hurts not to get the win, but . . .

* I'm glad to see that this team is alive and kicking. Must have been tough to rally that much effort with the way this season is gone. I can only hope that we build on this week for next.

* Glad to see some WRs finally step up their game. It made all the difference.

* Beck could not have possibly done as well as Grossman did today. I'm glad we are starting Rex.

I can't remember the last time we looked this competitive. Probably not since the Rams game. Let's just, please, keep this going. [-o<

Still drinking.

We made a lot of mistakes and did not get a few breaks that the bad guys got.

"Stall-worthless" is, in fact, a redzone threat. Glad our coaches discovered this so soon.

Our agression on D is not yet controlled agression. Virtually all of Romo's plays were on broken contain.

I'm going to the Patriot game. -drinking

Agree. Add Chris Nield to the list of rookies that stepped up and showed good signs

Nice to see Gano is worried that we might miss out on a franchise qb in the draft so he intentionally missed those kicks to protect our draft position.

All kidding aside, it would be nice to have a kicker that reliably makes kicks. This guy misses almost every important kick!

I know 49 and 52 yard kicks aren't automatic, but he has to make one of the two!

On another note. If I'm was Danny smith I would have went up to D Young and explain to him he helped lose the game. On Banks' last big return, Young was standing there waiting on Banks instead of running up field looking for someone to block. He could have easily blocked the punter if he hadn't waited for 1-2 seconds before taking off up field. By that time, Banks had caught up to him and ran right by him.

Hey, man. Good to hear from you in this thread. The Pats are the only team I've never seen. Taking my son to see Brady, etal. Scored free club level tix from an appreciative parent of a friend.

For people who have to pay it should be one of the easiest tickets of the year. If anyone is interested you could probably get 2 tix and a green pass for $100 on craigslist real easy.

I told my Cowboys neighbor that his team would probably win last night. I didn't think they had a chance with the offensive line so messed up. I didn't really watch the game until the end of the second quarter because I thought it was going to be a blow-out early with the o-line giving up sack after sack and no rushing yards.

That patchwork O-line did a great job and Grossman had a great game.

I'm not sure you should use "great" in that last sentence.... they did ok. Too many penalties and Sexy did pretty good (not great). He missed some sure completions.

Positives:

*O Line - beat up - hobbled - Brown limping - Polumbus? (the holding guy). Played well enough to allow Rex time to keep drives going and score.

*Kerrigan!!!!! Can we get another one of him.

*Good Rex was here! Of course, he is not here to stay.

*Intensity showed up!

* Defense gave a solid performance within his capabilities ( I agree with Darthmonk's assessment of the D, but we knew coming in that we needed cover corners and that Rak (all .5 sacks of NFC East QB's in his career isn't the elite pass rusher that he thinks he is)

* Banks - but we continue to waste some of the good field position he gives us

* Kick - Off coverage - did they ever get past the 20?

Negatives:

*Lack of intensity to start the game.

*O - line - No running game as usual.

*Westbrook - I was at the game and was able to watch him, as a gunner stay on the line of scrimmage and never challenge the defenders - he never made contact - that sums up the lack of intensity that some of our players showed the last couple of weeks and some showed to start the game today. I don't know if Westbrook's intensity picked up later, but thank goodness the team's did.

* Gomes - horrible today - he gets a pass because poor guy his head is probable spinning trying to figure out which way is up - I suspect he will get more playing time to find out if he can really play.

* Turnovers: us - 2 Cowboys - 0

* Gano - same old story. This is not the season to cut him loose. Next year, if that is our year to compete, we have to seriously consider another kicker if he can't become a consistent kicker. Dallas goes out and finds Bailey?

Wilson - when does he not get hurt?

Where do we go from here? Do we start playing intensified ball or is it back to the same old stuff?

*Face it, "Good Rex" only shows up every once and awhile.

*We don't have a running game and just lost Trent for who knows when.

*The defense still has it short comings.

* Has anybody been able to put their finger on the lack of intensity - not just by the players but coaches too(no adjustments in Bills game).

Once again a Sunday afternoon ends with the feeling like I've been punched in the stomach. Is to much to ask your PRO kicker to make a 53 yard FG? Evidently the answer is Ga-NOOOOOOOOO! A "W" today over the Cowpukes would have at least made this season easier to accept. But, alas, life is not fair and the dismal season trudges on to next weekend. At least they showed up made a decent effort to sent it to OT. Stay tuned, more misery awaits. But such is the life of a Skin fan. It is our lot in life to suffer (lately, 20 + years, anyway). Some of us even remember the days of Ralph Gugliemi and George Izo.

Banks went for two hundred yards today and had another twenty six yards called back because of a stupid block. I hope some of his detractors here noticed. He ignited the Skins, in my humble opinion.
My candidate for the most overrated Redskin: Trent Williams. Out of shape, injury prone, poorly motivated, character issues, not as skillful as advertised,
bad pick. I'm all out of passes.

I am pist we lost another game we should've won.. Sucky. Bright side is we were in it and lost to the pukes a grand total of 5 points. F them we need RGIII and we will compete w everyone. A loss ya... But at this point idc let's get some draft picks.....
The 3rd and FML we let them make was total crap defensively.. Other then that good isht from both sides of the ball

Nothing new:

Enough good Rex to get us in a competitive game. :)

Enough bad Rex to get us to lose a competitive game.

We knew we did not have an OL to open up holes and allow for the much-needed run game and control of the clock. Pass protection was touch and go.

Longest consecutive losing streak for Mike Shanahan as a head coach (well earned with the help of his son).

Trent Williams will be a much better RT than LT when he comes back from the injury. Let's get a good LT in the next Draft or FA if possible (after we draft a QB, of course).

Good game from:

Neild, Gaffney, Stallworth, Helu, Fletcher and others

Bad games from Davis, Torrain, Hall, and some Special Team players.

Too bad we are on our way to ... -CORRECTION- ...

Too bad we are the worst team in the standings of the NFC East and we have one of the worst five records in the entire NFL. One can only hope that the reward arrives in the form of another good Draft next year.

Sad life as a fan when the only reward is to already look forward to the recovery of injured players and expect the potential benefit of a "next year Draft". Let us get all reved up to start planning for a top five pick and NO Luck because the Colts are throwing the entire season away.

The Redskins lost because they deserved to lose, period. At some point you have to stop replacing bad coaches with more bad coaches and their bad coach sons, and you have to stop replacing bad QBs and kickers with bad QBs and kickers.

The Redskins field a playoff-caliber defense every single year, and every single year, that playoff caliber defense gets worn down and eventually defeated by bad offense, kicking, and coaching.

There isn't another team in the league that seemingly goes year after year after year with ZERO PLAYMAKERS ON OFFENSE even though every year it knows this is what it needs.

I'm just glad that the Cowboys can usually count on Washington's quarterbacking and kicking to consistently come out on top. Thanks.
