So after reading all the posts, I think I'll agree with this one. Simple, to the point, and no other issues around the post.cowboykillerzRED wrote:Crappy.... Good game big Hank wish u well and a speedy recovery

Yes it was quite obvious that you have not watched any of the previous games in which the run game has basically become null and void. That's quality depth right there.KazooSkinsFan wrote:I was referring to it being 3/4 full with those three players and you switched to the team's overall record. I mean duh, it's obvious that was what I was referring to.
I would be extremely happy if we drafted a true LT. Williams would be an excellent RT.Redskin in Canada wrote:True. Injuries have simply exposed what we already knew.yupchagee wrote:Countertrey wrote:Snake bit.
Many teams have much longer IR lists than we do. Our problem is we lack depth.
As bad as this injury hurts, I wish we still had an OL.
T. Williams must be moved to RT.

To provide you with some information: In 9 games, Helu is 43 rushes for 213 yds. That equals a 5 yd average by the way. I would consider that to be a pretty stat line. Not to mention in the passing game he's 29 for 210 (7.2 yd average). One could say that he's our best offensive player or consistantly effective offensive player. Combine those two numbers and everytime he touches the ball, he's expected to gain a little over 6 yds per touch. Give me a break when you way that we have nothing on this team. With the putrid offensive line, there is a little something going on.

This is one of the best post's I have ever read.markshark84 wrote:As far as Hankerson being injury prone -- we'll see. He's out for the season after playing only his 3rd game. Who knows, he may recover and never miss another down, but we haven't had that type of luck in the past. Outside of the occasional hamstring injury, 22 yr old WRs tend to not get hurt too often -- unless they are more injury inclined. This is just my pessimistic view after seeing the WR show some promise.
As far as depth, I don't think many can argue that this team has it. Depth comes from having a good GM and FO who can identify talent and keep them on the roster -- something this team has been seriously lacking since the 1980s.
It will take a good deal of time for a team to create depth -- for the skins, this could take 3 or more years (assuming excellent drafting). This franchise has been trading away their future for over a decade. The lack of depth is a DIRECT result of this team trading their picks.
Since 2000, the skins have had a total of 29 draft picks in rounds 1-4 (they should have had nearly 50 sans trades). From 2005-2010, they only had a total of 13 between rounds 1-4 (they should have had 24). Out of those 13, only 6 are currently on the roster. Rounds 1-4 are crucial in building a franchise -- yet our idiot owner has consistently disregarded this generally accepted football principle for over a decade.
Between 2010-2005 the skins had a total of 39 draft picks -- of which 33% were selected in rounds 1-4. Comparatively:
- GB: 58 picks; 50% selected in rounds 1-4.
- Pitt - 51 picks; 49% selected in rounds 1-4.
- NE - 57 picks; 51% selected in rounds 1-4.
- BAL - 47 picks; 60% selected in rounds 1-4.
- SF: 50 picks; 50% selected in rounds 1-4.
This is how you create depth. It doesn't come via free agency or trades. It will take time and I hope this time they do it right.
Miss you 21

Train can be good at times. Problem is he is always banged up. He was or is nothing special but neither is Hightower. Helu might be someone but I haven't seen that yet. I have only seen that he is a good number 2.frankcal20 wrote:Torrain has been a major dissapointment this year outside of the one half he had. Hightower still leads the team in rushing. Really hope we run w/ Helu from here on out and maybe spell Choice in there. No need to see Torrain.

What has our running game got to do with our runningbacks? No, that's not a trick question. Seriously.StorminMormon86 wrote:Yes it was quite obvious that you have not watched any of the previous games in which the run game has basically become null and void. The running game in the NFL is 85% blocking, 15% runningback. An elite back like Adrian Peterson can maybe push that up to 20-25%. Put Peterson behind our current wreck of a beat-up O-Line and he would practically vanish. Then you'd be talking about what a crappy RB Peterson is because he's not getting any yards.

Is David Anderson becoming our #2 WR now?
That is depth and quality depth. Now, we don't have much quality depth at o-line but that's a work in progress. Sadly that lack of depth makes the other components look worse.

Again, this proves my point that we have no depth. Backup O-Line = depth. And with no O-Line, there is no way to measure how good Helu can be. Do you remember (outside of one game last year against the Giants) where Torain did anything last year that was spectacular? Read my posts before you make assumptions please.die cowboys die wrote:What has our running game got to do with our runningbacks? No, that's not a trick question. Seriously.

How many years, perhaps decades, has it been since we have one of the top dominant OLs in the NFL?PAPDOG67 wrote:Of course it would help if our O-line would actually open a hole every now and then.
two decades?
Maybe. To me it looks like another life.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

I think it has a ton to do with the fact that he doesn't make tacklers miss. He just runs straight ahead and meets his tackler head-on. I have never seen the guy make an effective lateral cut or juke move.PAPDOG67 wrote:I am actually still pretty high on Torain. I don't know why he's in Mike's dog house. The guy was voted one of the 5 toughest RBs to tackle last year by the players, so he must have been doing something right. I would love to know what his yards after first contact stat is.
RIP Sean Taylor. You will be missed.

That post took me almost an hour to research. After doing those 5 teams, I wanted to do more -- but didn't have the time.
It makes me sick that our FO makes it more and more difficult to win with every "deal" they make (that is, prior to 2011 -- I approved of the job Allen did this year/off season). Compared to the skins, GB had almost 20 more opportunities to draft quality players. With those odds, it's almost impossible to succeed against your competitor. On top of that, the picks we did have were almost all in rounds 5-7 -- which rarely add value.
I wanted to post those stats so the people on this board have a better understand of what our FO has been doing over the past decade -- an example with numbers. I personally don't think most fans understand how bad it has been. A trade here and there can add up -- next thing you know you only have 3 picks in next years draft.
RIP Sean Taylor. You will be missed.
