2012 Draft

Post by gregory smith »

As of today where do we stand with our picks for the 2012 draft? Is this the year we are compensated for Jason? Haynesworth? How many total picks do we have at this time?

We will receive the 4th for JC. Haynesworth as well. Don't forget the pick for DMac as well. We have all our picks this year I believe.

We might need all of them to trade up. I hate to mortgage our future but we can get a QB in this years draft and sit him behind a vet. Take our blows for the year and not shell shock him until we can address the Oline. Or we can fix the Oline and hope that in the near future we can get our hands on a rookie QB.

I thought the compensation for Haynesworth was a 5th rounder in 2013.

1st
2nd
3rd
4th
Traded Jason Campbell to Raiders for 2012 fourth round pick.
5th
Keep the 6th traded to the Saints (conditional if Jammal Brown played 90% of snaps in 2010, which he didn't or is voted to Pro Bowl, which he wasn't)
Traded Donovan McNabb to Vikings for 2012 sixth round pick.
7th
Gave up a 2012 conditional "late-round" pick (probably based on Holliday's playing time and/or performance).

Traded Albert Haynesworth to Patriots for 2013 fifth round pick.
Traded Donovan McNabb to Vikings 2013 conditional sixth round pick

Nobody in this FO is that stupid that they would consider trading draft picks to get a QB

We badly need a QB but we can have our cake and eat it too

Nobody in the Redskins FO is that stupid - I hope we get more picks
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

This franchise used to make a lot of mistakes but these guys will CONTINUE to use the draft & free agency effectively

EVERYBODY makes mistakes - there's no doubt that this FO has a plan - we have too many issues not to use all of our draft picks wisely

we need to keep adding to the mix and especially find quality depth along both lines - AFTER we get our QB

Hell, even some of the most sought after coaches make mistakes. Look at Belechick. He just cut Haynesworth and looks like signing Ocho was a mistake too. Look at some of his other busts. It happens. There's no perfect solution. That's why there's a 50%(roughly) success rate in the draft.

We ain't gonna get Luck. If we ended up with Blackmon I'd be stoked. Have to stop drafting defense, have to take some O-linemen, preferably in the second and third round.

We will draft a QB with the first pick - it will most likely not be Andrew Luck

no worries - the only concern is finding the other players on offense that we need to ensure we can execute and score points

My concern is that even if we draft a QB, and he plays right off the bat, it will most likely be a year or two before he plays at a level that will result in making us a playoff contender. Yes - guys like Newton and Dalton are making it look easy to just step in as a rookie and be competitive, but I think these guys are the exception, not the rule.

So if we're thinking that we'll draft a QB next year and be instantly competitive with all the other pieces in place, we might be in for a surprise. We might be putting the right pieces in place for future success, but I'm skeptical that it'll happen in 2012.

This years qb pool is deep.. I don't think we will trade up but if we have to we do it. Did I read that right 2 fourth round picks and 2 sixth rounders? Depending what the order is we can possibly make a big move w a team that doesn't need a qb before a team that might snag our guy.
Whiff for Griff! RGIII is good for me!
Yes there is a chance a stud QB doesn't. Make us over night better... Although it certainly looks like it could from what I've seen. A good QB would make this O less "sparky" more consistent and we hve the weapons to be good. W our rooks getting more field time this year and no lock out = more off season for them as well as our O line to gell. Get them going on O and I think our D automatically becomes beast mode not having to play all damn game. They are in my opinion a very good defense and w an O that can move the ball and score make teams take chances playing catch up TO s and sacks will be increased.

I hope you are right about drafting a QB first. I think thats what they should do, and expect them to do, but you never know. QB is priority #1 right now. I would love to get Barkley. I personally don't think the gap between him and Luck is as big as some people make it out to be. I like RG3 too.

We will be taking a QB but ....

these guys worry me a bit - we cannot make a mistake in whom we select

the 2012 draft has to be VERY good for this franchise - hopefully the FO and scouts will come up with some key additions

So far they seem to have done pretty well in 2011 and the'll have more to work with this time.
