How would you rate Shanny's record with Washington?

Post by Skinsfan55 »

Okay, Shanahan took over a terrible team that had been gutted by Zorn and Vinny. Very little in the way of young talent. I know this loss was tough to swallow, and we're all frustrated and it's important to remember this is only year 2 of a rebuilding project. But still... what impact has Shanny had?

QB- Shanahan attempted to bring the Redskins some credibility and trade for Donovan McNabb. It was a huge mistake. McNabb cost us two picks and was lazy, uninspired, uncoachable, and obstinate. Could have continued his greatness in DC but wouldn't put in the work. Shanny didn't do his homework. In the process he traded away a young QB in Jason Campbell. Campbell might never have been "the answer" in Washington but he was about 100x better than the QB's we've had since he left. I would have kept him until something better came along.

RB- Shanahan brought in Torain, drafted Helu, traded for Hightower... basically he had a broken down old CP and he's been throwing crap against the wall to see what sticks. What he has forgotten is, the line is not in place to run his world renown ZBS so you can't plug in any crappy old RB in there just yet. Young looks like a good FB, but we barely use him anyway.

WR/TE- Shanahan has added no significant pieces in this area except for Jabar Gaffney who is "just a guy" in NFL parlance. Hankerson may some day be a contributor but that day appears a long way away. Perhaps Shanahan deserves some credit for Fred Davis' emergence, but who knows.

OL- Shanahan did add Trent Williams and Jammal Brown. Not sure any of the rest of the guys would play on a decent team. Line is a big mess and not enough has been done to fix it.

DL- Okay, so Carriker looks okay, but Cofield appears to be a bust, and I am not sold on Bowen. Sure he looks alright, but he's just quality depth like he was in Dallas.

LB- Kerrigan was a great addition but he hasn't done anything else to add to this squad.

CB/S- Shanahan dumped Carlos Rogers who is rated as the second best CB in the league by Pro Football Focus. Who cares if he can't catch, the man was an elite cover guy and he could tackle. Excellent combo and we let him get away. Josh Wilson seems decent, but he's not an upgrade by any means. Atogwe seems like a great player, decent add.

Well, there you have it... two years into the rebuild I'd actually like to see some solid progress, but this team flat out stinks right now. Maybe they're right, maybe Shanahan is too arrogant. Maybe he just needs more time.

I think it is still a work in progress. There are MAJOR pieces of this puzzle missing.

We've just been spinning our wheels here man. Nothing has been done to improve the team. I am all for giving Shanahan some time but at some point, you gotta say enough is enough. Show me some progress already.

Did everybody see Hankerson's first catch?

Did you see the Giant's game? What has happened since the Giant's game that the offense has slid into oblivion?. Injuries are the first and biggest reason and then poor quarterback play. The team can't get a first down on its opening drives and immediately falls behind. Then they have to abandon the run and that's when the Bad Qb and sacks start to take over.

It is unfortunate but you can't make improvements drastically in the NFL as the Dream team in Philly is showing that.

I think Shanny just came over to pick up a big check like every other guy Snyder has hired. As soon as he brought in his son I knew it. same as Marty & family. Having a family reunion every sunday and getting paid big bucks for it, priceless. If a BBQ was allowed, it would be like heaven.

You know Shanny's past doesn't mean a damn thing when it looks like the Skins are taking a backward ride. You got to give the man another year to get it going however . We do have a ton of injuries right now.

If we don't bring in a ton of q.b. talent next year then he has lost it as a NFL head coach.

Hell I would be looking right now for someone!!

Don't forget about Bruce Allen this could still be Snyder's best pick up at rebuilding things. I look for the next off season to be stacked heavily on bringing in offensive talent. We still need roster depth very bad. especially the O-line.

Defensively we got to get better in the secondary we need some real Cb's on this team.

However a season and half later we still look very Zornish not good.

he gets a D
starting with the draft no QB
our offensive line just sucks even before the injuries it wasnt getting the job done.
not really on the D too much our offense clearly is the reason this team is quickly falling apart.no WR s doesn't help either put simply they are bad.
so who are we looking at in the upcoming NFL DRAFT ???

You know, I wanted a QB too... but I can't really say I wanted Blaine Gabbert or Ponder more than Ryan Kerrigan... or Jimmy Clausen or Colt McCoy in 2010. Shanny's done a lot wrong, but has not drafting a QB been his worst crime thus far? 2012 is QB rich, hopefully we grab one.

I voted B. In two years, nothing as embarrassing as the swinging gate has occurred under his watch. Of course, JZ never allowed 9 sacks in a game.

Zorn actually had more wins in Washington than Shanahan. Think about that.

Voted D. That vote is based on the results so far which speak for themselves. Things may get better in the future, but for now the record to date sucks. And with all the injuries combined with the all the other ineptitude on the field and on the sidelines, things are going downhill fast at this point, and may not have hit bottom yet. My 2 cents ](*,)

I give it a B so far, and incomplete overall. I said from the beginning, that this was a three years rebuild, and my evaluation of this team wouldn't fully be complete until after next year. The first year was to evaluate, the second year we have made MAJOR strides in upgrading the defense, the third year (hopefully) will be upgrading the Offense.

We HAVE to pick up a QB next year, but if there is not one that the coaches think fit the system, than I don't want to settle on one. Our QB's are really bad. Hell, look at what a team looks like after losing a QB with Indy as an example. If we had a QB with some Moxi, I think this team would be the talk of the league right now. We have the defense to win most games. We need a WR and we need a QB and I think we're set. The other thing we need is depth, and having some of these rookies and 2nd year players playing now, will give us some needed depth in future years. I know injuries happen, but but we don't have depth yet.

Just my 2 cents
Miss you 21

OK, now that the Redskins are 3 - 4 and are being what was predicted at the beginning of the year, the masses are out in force. Hang Shanahan, Hang somebody because the Redskins are not winning, not going to win the division, not even going to finish someplace other than last in the division.

Get real people, the Redskins were not going to win much this year. Remember, 6 - 9. 8 - 8 at best? There is no o-line, running back or quarterback. In short, no offense. Never has been this year.

I don't have any answers but lots of opinions.

1) Draft a quarterback. Anyone would be better than what we have. And don't even think of bringing Campbell back. Remember? Shanahan staked his reputation on Grossman and Beck?

2) Take nothing but o-line guys in the first 5 draft spots. Screw the best player scenario. It has not worked here. We did have a decent, decent mind you not great or even better than average, o-line until the injuries. Now, zilch....zero.....nothing....nada....zip! They cannot block a quartet of old ladies long enough for a play to develop. 9 sacks, 9!!!!

3) Get rid of Hall, he gets beat so many times, the police won't even take an assault complaint.

4) Get rid of Kyle Shanahan. Whatever magic he is supposed to have brought, went south for the winter.

5) Give Shanahan senior and Allen one more year to produce better. It doesn't have to be a division winner, just visible improvement. This year is not over last year!

6) If Shanahan can't get it done, get one of the young upwardly mobile coachs, not one of the retreads, has beens like Cowher. It took Cowher 10 years at Pittsburgh to get to the Super Bowl. Now everyone treats him like a coaching genius. He isn't and never was.

If they only didn't change from a 43 to a 34 we would be further along on offense. But we did so its going to be a couple of more years at least.

I voted a C for now. If Mike can get us to 9-7 (very unlikely) then I will move it to a B.

10 years and no Super Bowl? I wonder what the Steeler fans did/acted?

And what about the Buffalo Bills. How many times did they make it to the Super Bowl and never win. Same for the Vikings. Imagine what it takes being a Bills or Vikings fan. I know because I used to be a life long Broncos fan. All of us were of the same mind. We didn't want our team to go to the Super Bowl again unless we had a good chance of winning. Mike Shanahan did that for the team. He got them/us over the hump. It took three years and that was from a team in better shape than the Redskins. It takes time and patience.

I agree that Shanahan should have another year. I wouldn't even care if they didn't win the division. I would like to see improvement. I don't see it this year over last year.

If we don't it officially means Shanahan has no clue what he is doing. We can't go on without a franchise QB. Draft one, build around him.

It takes time. This team has been so mismanaged and screwed up it is going to take a lot longer than 2 years to right the ship. The defense is a major improvement, and is shut down corner away from being great.

I gave him a "D" for the simple fact that Jim Zorn won more games in two seasons at this point. Jim Zorn.

It's a F Shanahan screwed up from Haynesworthless to McNabb. Sorry it doesn't take 2 plus years to field something credible, unless your a Daniel Snyder owned team. Shanahan is here to get his son some experience PERIOD. Where else can you make 5 million a year and have your son and friends all collect a check? Answer? Washington. Bruce Allen has been a joke allowing this mockery to continue, sorry Snyder and Allen both need to fire the entire staff and get Bill Cower in here ASAP or Jon Gruden, hell they will lose too, but hey to get shut out? Sorry that IS JUST UNFORGIVABLE!

Surely your drunk or high to even type this right? The only person that "get's" it was and is London Fletcher. The rest of this team, and coaching staff laugh all the way to the bank. This isn't the Washington Redskins, this is Club Snyder.
