RIP Dan Wheldon

Just a terrible thing to happen to one of the greatest. I have a framed picture of meeting Dan Wheldon at a race in Milwaukee. My buddy had a Penske hat on and we went into the Target tent to meet Wheldon and Dixon (when they raced for Gannasi), and he took my buddy's hat off and threw it in the trash. He then took the hat he was wearing off, signed it, and gave it to my buddy. It was a flex fit Target hat with his number on the side. It was a sick hat. I got a picture high fiving him. Just a great guy.

One of the worst accidents in modern motorsports. I do not know if any of you has lived through a very serious car accident but those images a few seconds before it when you see that it is unavoidable have never been erased from my memory and will never fade away. Horrible experience to know that one is not likely to survive.

Although the act of jumping in a car and driving that fast brings with it a very possible result of injury or death, this is truly a tragic thing. I think I remember him leaving behind a wife and two children, I hope the best for them.

I love how these drivers in Nascrap are sitting there saying Indycars shouldn't run on ovals. That it's too dangerous, that they have never even been 225 MPH in their life much less average it in a race with two other cars 2 feet away, with open wheels and an open cockpit. No crap. That's why these guys in Indy are the baddest, and, well, you drive a lawn mower for a living. Oh by the way, nobody was clammering to shut down the Daytona 500 when Dale died going half the speed.
