Better 3-4 OLB in 3 years?

Orakpo. Barely.

I think Rak will be, but it's tough to call. Kerrigan has caught on quickly, but there is a lot of learning to be done by both players to become complete.

I like Kerrigan alot, but I think his game has been helped tremendously by having Orakpo on the other side drawing blockers.

Whichever one isn't being double teamed on that given play. (Or not)

I love having these bookends.

I think this is a pretty good prediction.

I am going to go with Orakpo for right now though.

Haslett noted the other day that he is protecting Orakpo in coverage, by keeping his responsibilities simple. You will see Kerrigan in coverage much more... he's been beaten a few times, but with each game his skill picks up. Pass rush... Orakpo is just beginning to demonstrate new rush moves. Kerrigan has already shown that he has effective use of at least 3 rush moves. I have not seen Orakpo use a bull rush effectively... I have watched Kerrigan walk his blocker back into the quarterback several times on a bull rush technique.

Keeping in mind that Linebacker has multiple responsibilities... Kerrigan will be the better 3-4 Linebacker. Orakpo MAY prove the better pure pass rusher... though I'm not so sure

The real issue is, does it make any difference? Orakpo is on the blind side, generally, where his quickness can be used to greatest advantage. Both will rack up impressive stats... both will be making major contributions to the performance of the Defense. Both will end up having terrific careers... if they stay healthy. They are our modern day Mann and Manley... except... (I think) they will be better.

Orakpo will be our Demarcus Ware

Kerrigan will be our Clay Matthews

Tough to say which is better, different styles.

lucky to have em both on the same team. This defense as a whole is going to be amazing in 3-4 years. Im anxious to see how they fill Londons shoes, that must be done this year

Both those comparisons makes sense. I'd rather have Demarcus Ware, but I'm not going to shed one tear over having Clay Mathews, too. I actually think this defense will be amazing by middle of next year, based solely on 1 more year in the 3-4 w/Haslett and the return of Jenkins. Nevermind who else they may add and hopefully not losing any key pieces.
I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

Oh, and they WILL be adding another piece or two... I think they'll look to add a cover corner... The only question is, when does Fletch start to slow down... got to happen at some point. Other than that... quality additions will make this defense MUCH better... maybe even scarey better.

I vote Kerrigan by a slim margin. There is something special about that guy. I think Rak is a better athlete. But, Kerrigan is powerful and relentless. They remind me of the Kevin Greene, Greg Lloyd combination of the early 90's Steelers.

Rak loyalists.
Kerrigan is already the better linebacker in any set.

These two guys together can help each other into the HOF.

Kerrigan was a GEM of a pick up during the draft. Does anyone know what his draft projection was? I'm curious.

Let's just say that the Patriots thought he would be there at their pick... though some had him going as high as 16... to Jacksonville...

Not a refute of your highlighted point, but I believe the sack fumble Kerrigan had against the Rams, was precipitated by Orakpo's bull rushing his man into Bradford's kitchen

Mann and Manley II, wow  (I miss Charles and his hungry man dinners commercials). Next you're going to fulfill my other dream and tell me Lachey (T. Williams), Bostic (Montgomery) and McKenzie(Chester) II are on the team already. . . if only.

yeah, a cover corner would be really nice. This isn't popular, but I'm interested to see what Riley's development is over the course of this year. I thnk Fletch is good for this year and I hope next, with next being the year that an improved Riley gets more run alongside what is turning out to be a demon ILB in Rocky. It would be great to already have Fletch's replacement on the team, developing.

Yeah, I was really glad to see Rocky resigned with us. Hes been solid this year.

As far as a replacement for London, Im talking about the guy whos going to come in, make the calls , make the adjustments pre-snap and be the unquestioned leader of the defense. Its going to be really difficult to find"that guy". Especially considering the level Fletcher plays at. If its going to be a draft pick, I hope he has a year or 2 under Fletcher's guidance before he's handed the reigns.

The odd thing about a poll like this ,is that, in a few years, media will dictate which LB is better.(at least on a national level) Flashy sacks and highlight reel stuff will detract attention from fundamentals. As a physically gifted athlete I think Rak will be better, fundamentally it might be Kerrigan. Both are gonna be damned good.

I mean, London Fletcher is probably the best fundamental LB in the game today. He may not be regarded the best in the NFL because he isnt flashy. But we all know better.

They can both be best, for different reasons
