Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis has died

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis has died

Al Davis, the Oakland Raiders owner who was one of the towering figures of professional football over the last half century, has died.

The Raiders’ web site has confirmed that Davis passed away this morning. He was 82.

In 1963, the Raiders, at the time a struggling franchise in the upstart American Football League, hired the 33-year-old Davis to be their head coach and general manager. He instantly reversed the team’s fortunes and was named the AFL’s Coach of the Year in their first season.

RIP Al Davis

Post by BossHog »

Owner and mad man of the Oakland Raiders has passed away. Very little is known yet, but according the Raiders site, he passed away this morning.

The man was definitely 'different' and the man was often radical, but very few men leave behind the legacy to the NFL that Al Davis does.

Prayers to his family and friends. We lost a football icon today.
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

Al Davis' son Mark Davis inherits control of the Raiders.

Wow. I know I've given him crap for his antics over the years, but he definitely changed football. RIP Al :(

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Prayers definitely with the organization and especially his family.

He did alot for football and whatever faults he may have had, he was that way because he just wanted to "Win, baby".

When I heard the news I decided to change my Hognostications pick form Texans to Raiders. As I was about to hit "Submit" I said to my nephew "I'm having 2nd thoughts. Should I do this?" My nephew said "Just win, baby!"

I did. Raiders won!

RIP Big Al.

I too thought about changing my pick, but didn't. Now I regret it. :(
