The enigmatic life of Walter Payton

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

The enigmatic life of Walter Payton

Post by Redskin in Canada »

Controversial book about the life of "sweetness"

Both praised and criticised with a sample of controversial statements here.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

I see no point in visiting any of this. Walter Payton was the consumate gentleman and competitor on the field. He was magic to watch. I don't expect such men to be perfect.

I know nothing of Jeff Perlman... but my 6th sense says "gutless. profiteering poser". I see no benefit, even to what may be true. Perhaps, I'll read the tripe when I can get it for free.

BearSkins.. do you know of this guy up there? Is he at all credible in anyway? I'm just wondering why he'd do the book after all these years, like was he collecting information? Sweetness passed away sooooo long ago so I'm confused by this book.

most folks in Chicago are pretty confused by it too. he's been on a show or two here trying to explain it but he's getting short shrift from the public at large, as well as Walter's former team-mates, obviously. Really, I see it as nothing more than a buck-making venture at the expense of a guy that can no longer answer back.

I hate these sort of books as a general rule. I recall reading a review of such a biogrpahy written about The Band told mainly from Robbie Robertsion's point of view. Pretty much all that Leven Helm said of it - pretty scathingly - was, "I don't recall that book writer being in the room when all these things happened or were supposedly said". Sums it up for me - these things are nothing more than supposition and gossip.
