I feel that we are in the enviable position to play whichever QB has the best potential against whichever opponent. I really like Beck's bootleg mobility. Just saying. HTTR!

I get what you are saying. Beck is clearly more mobile and showed escapability in the Colts game, but Shanahan is not about rotating QBs. He said Grossman is the starter for the season. Unless Grossman gets hurt or reverts back to a turnover machine, Beck will not start a game this season.

I do believe that, at some point this season, Shanny will find a way to get Beck on the field to, at least, run a specific play that Grossman is not good at doing.

But Skins fans don't seem to know a lot about the Cards. They don't have Kurt Warner anymore so they are less likely to have the quick drives and scores. But their running game looks a lot better than what they had under KW. They are still learning their D and the shortened season really hurt them having a new DC and all. But they have talent on their defense and offense too so don't sell them short because of new CBs that were pressed into service due to injuries and a trade. Their DL is actually pretty good with a Pro Bowler on it and maybe another in the making. It may not be so easy to run on them. Much better to rely more on passing because that is their weakness now. I am sure that the coaches will not take them lightly. Shanahan visited the Cards when he took the job with Washingon to learn about running the 3 - 4 defense so he may know somethings about their defense other than what's on film.

I have visited the Cards forums a few times and to sum it up and generalize: there are the usual fans who are predicting victory, but several are cautious or even doubtful about winning. They worry most about their defensive backfield after seeing last week's performance, the effect of traveling to the East Coast, and if their starting inside LB Daryl Washington will be able to play, he is a force. They are not worried about your running game or in general being able to score points although Kolb still has to be a question mark for them even after last week's competent performance.

Posts like this are excellent. We need more posts like this every week from fans who are very familiar with the opposition.

We have the potential to pummel these guys. I think we win this one by more than two scores.

It may not be easy to run on them, but we will. Why do I say that, our guys pushed around the Steelers and the Ravens starters - that doesn't prove that we will do it tomorrow, but this is just a fan talking here not an expert. What fans saw against RAvens and Steelers starters gives a reason to believe that it can be done. Does zone blocking executed to precision work better against 3-4 linemen? I don't have the time to do that research, so I am going to say yes with the shred of evidence I have.

T. Hightower 20 - 96 4.8 avg
R. Helu 10 - 74 7.4 avg

I said we would run on these guys and we did. We play another 3-4 team next week - Dallas!

Thanks for the compliment. I posted in another topic not to get discouraged if this was a tight game as it turned out to be. The Cards are not playing together yet but they have talent and playmakers that they have to rely on to come up with a big play. They also have a habit of beating the Cowboys which I hope bodes well for you because you will be underdogs in the match up. I like your chances of getting a playoff spot just have to keep Rex consistent and improving throughout the year.

Any win in the NFL is a good win. But you were right, they are not a bad team.

I know that this was a close game, but when is the last time that we dominated a team in the stats like this:

Redskins stats are on the right side.

Total First Downs 16 Total First Downs 28

Total Net Yards 324 Total Net Yards 455
Total Rushing/Passing Plays (includes Sacks) 48 Total Rushing/Passing Plays (includes Sacks) 79

Average Gain per Offensive Play 6.8 Average Gain per Offensive Play 5.8 (A stat that shows that we gave up the big plays too much))

Net Yards Rushing 93 Net Yards Rushing 172

Total Rushing Plays 15 Total Rushing Plays 35

Average Gain per Rushing Play 6.2 Average Gain per Rushing Play 4.9 (Another stat why the Cards had a chance to win)

Net Yards Passing 231 Net Yards Passing 283 (73 of those passing yards came on one play)

Times Sacked (Number-Yards) 3 - 20 Times Sacked (Number-Yards) 1 - 8 (Even with Grossman only one sack given up. Kolb can run)

Gross Yards Passing 251 Gross Yards Passing 291

Pass Comp-Att-Int 17 - 30 - 1 Pass Comp-Att-Int 25 - 43 - 2

Interception Returns (Number-Yards) 2 - 50 Interception Returns (Number-Yards) 1 - 0 (This one hurt big time)

Penalties (Number-Yards) 10 - 97 Penalties (Number-Yards) 3 - 15
(We caught a big break with the Cardinal penalties)

Fumbles (Number-Lost) 2 - 1 Fumbles (Number-Lost) 0 - 0 (Key stat for us)
Final Score 21 Final Score 22 (THE BEST STAT OF THEM ALL)

Time of Possession 21:30 Time of Possession 38:30 (Last year, correct me if I am wrong, had more total yards than two of our opponents and got killed in time of possession in nearly every game).

The score was close, but the game was not. The Skins dominated, but as we all know - the only thing that counts is the scoreboard and we got that too in this game.
