Oh, they're MAKING him work?
So after the huge overreaction about his performance, the dude is seen doing what he needs to do to get better and can't even get credit for it?

The road to the number 1 pick gaining speed!
Turns out Haslett is defending him. Communication was the issue on the sack fumble, and upon rewatching the game, I can see it. Unit still has some jelling to do, but the physical matchups weren't so bad, mostly.

Exactly. The dude is a grown man. In the NFL coaches do not MAKE you take extra reps. Even in HS you aren't made to take extra reps. You never hear about Johnny U being forced to work with Berry until it got dark, he took the initiative.
Williams turned in a bad game and it's his decision alone to put in the work after practice.

Apparently, he think he did fine on Sunday.
That could be completely true. Makes me wonder, though. If he wasn't supposed to block the DE, I'm not sure who he was supposed to block?
Fans may believe that left tackle Trent Williams struggled at times against the New York Giants on Sunday, but the second-year pro said he feels pretty good about his Week 1 performance.
“Week 1 went well for me,” said Williams, whom Washington drafted fourth overall in 2010. “After watching the film and reviewing everything, I felt good.”
Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul recorded two sacks and a forced fumble last week, facing off primarily with Williams. But Williams didn’t come away overly impressed.
“He didn’t wow me, if that’s what you’re asking,” Williams said. “He’s a great player. He came in and did his job. He was alright.”
Late in the game, Pierre-Paul dipped inside Williams’ right shoulder rather than rushing around the edge and slipped between Williams and guard Kory Lichtensteiger. He sacked Rex Grossman and forced a fumble that the Giants recovered in Redskins’ territory.
Williams said Pierre-Paul’s play was the result of miscommunication, not an inability to execute.
“It was a protection issue more than him beating me,” Williams said. “Like I said, anybody can go in there and not get blocked and go tackle the quarterback. We kinda messed up protection. We didn’t really touch him. It was just a misunderstanding between me and the guard. That’s all it was. I expected him to be there and he was there for someone else. It was just little things. It’s just football. You get things like that worked out.

Or why he's taking extra practice.

Just wait until next year, when they draft someone not named Luck... too bad you have to log into your AOL account to whine about it.

You clearly are not a fan of the Washington Redskins, their history, their draft picks, or their organizational philosophy. Perhaps you'd be happier investing your time in following a different team.

So you'd have been happier with an OT who has problems staying healthy?
Ooookay.

Russell Okung played in 10 games last year, Trent Williams played in 14.
This year they both have played in 1. I think it's a little premature to say Russell Okung is injury prone/trouble staying healthy.

So out of one side of your mouth, "Too early to label X as Y b/c he only played in 10 games as a rookie and 1 this year"
THEN OUT OF THE MOTHER

SO WHAT YOU'RE SAYING IS that that 4 damn game difference in Player A's rookie year allows for definitive evaluation of him?
Do you read this crap you write before you hit submit?
I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

If its premature to call Okung injury prone, isn't it premature to call Williams a bust??

SPIT HAPPENS!!

It may be premature to predict either player's NFL future
I was a bit of an Okung fan & have watched both (as much as possible) with a little interest
no worries - Trent Williams has had some 'issues' but he will soon show why he was the better choice for us

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I hope he realizes this before a contract year.
If Trent Williams does not bust his ass to be the best he can be he will not need to worry about his next contract - nobody wants a LT that does not want to practice and play to their ability
this all moot - this guy will be coached up and Mike has already indicated that he's liking what he's seen from Williams
we're very lucky that we got Williams instead of Okung

Yeah, even your "facts" are just wrong.
Okung has played 14 of a possible 23 games (counting the preseason) so far in his NFL career. He has exited three of those games early with an ankle injury.
He has bad ankles. And note that the injury prone label has been discussed in the local Seattle press here this summer.

I really try to not insult you outside smack even though the mods are obviously giving people a lot of well deserved latitude with you. But seriously...

But you keep explaining you are a Redskin fan, so you trash us but give other teams a pass to demonstrate it. Explain that again, I'll try to understand it this time. Oh, tell us how you have great knowledge of football as well, that was a hoot too.

Hail to the Redskins!
