Antrel Rolle: Giants the better teamEmailPrintComments17By Ohm Youngmisuk
ESPNNewYork.com
Archive Antrel Rolle admits that the New York Giants defense has a lot of work to do after the Redskins won the season opener. But the safety believes that if the two NFC East rivals played each other 100 times, New York would prevail at least 95 times.

"As a team and organization, we know that the Washington Redskins is not a better team than us," Rolle said in his weekly spot on WFAN radio. "We know that hands down. If we played them 100 times, they might win five. They won that day. It never leaves a good taste in your mouth when you lose to an opponent that you know you are better than."

When asked by WFAN hosts Joe and Evan if he was impressed by Rex Grossman or thought the Redskins were better than he thought, Rolle replied, "No, not at all."

Week 1: Redskins 28, Giants 14

"We'll definitely prove that next time around," Rolle said. "He is going to feel the Giants come the next time around. We will take care of that when the time comes."

Grossman completed 21-of-35 passes for 305 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday to lead the Redskins to a 28-14 win over the Giants at FedEx Field. Playing without defensive captain Justin Tuck and with a depleted secondary, the Giants defense failed to rattle Grossman and had a six-game winning streak against Washington snapped. The Giants had won 9-of-10 meetings between the teams prior to Sunday.

Rolle finished with six tackles but was flagged for a costly 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty in the fourth quarter after the Giants defense should have gotten a stop. On a third-and-9 at the Washington 45, Grossman hit tight end Fred Davis for a 7-yard gain but Rolle's penalty gave the Redskins a first down at the Giants' 33 before they eventually scored to make it a 14-point lead with 5:04 remaining.

The Giants, who face the Redskins again on Dec. 18 at MetLife Stadium, now have to bounce back against former defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo and the Rams on Monday night.

They hope to have Tuck back this week from a neck injury that kept him out of the season opener.

"I definitely feel there is a lot of work to be done," Rolle said of the defense. "We have a lot of guys playing different positions we have to fill in for some key areas. We still haven't found that chemistry yet. It is getting close."

"We understood where things went wrong," Rolle added. "I don't think we played a good game as a team. I don't think we played good on special teams, on defense or on offense. The Giants will come out there and we will show the world what we are all about and we will come play."

Perhaps Mr. Rolle's problem is that he was too focused on what the redskins used to be rather than preparing for the team that actually took the field. I suspect this will be the case for quite a few teams this year.
I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

Both these idiots are wrong. The Skins/Giants record is 63-92-4. Even though the Gints have owed us lately, we have won six out of the last 20. Now 6-14 is terrible, but it is a far cry from 5-95.

Idiots is too kind a word. Rolle over Beethoven, and tell Tchaikovsky the news. Waa waa waa, they clearly looked back in time in preparing for this one. I don't care about 'depleted', it never carries any weight to defend OUR losses. The Redskins took advantage of the opponent's weaknesses in game plan and execution. Sounds like good coaching to me. We executed our gameplan, we won. Shut up Pumpkinhead! You too, Rolle polle.

HTTR

I guess we are gonna hear a lot of this specious nonsense about how our opponents lost the game rather than we won it. Fine with me, so long as we win.

I wondered when the troll would show up. Missed you on the board the last couple of days. I will admit that I think we would have had a tougher time on offense if the Gnats had been at full strength, but our Defense played well too.

Let's get this win Sunday so that we can shut this troll up for the season!!

We will win, but will the Troll keep its word? We might celebrate a SB victory and Mr Superfan would still be crying about Luck. He may well be the next Peyton, and the Colts just might get him. I don't WANT a team that is dependant one one player to win.

You think by making it open-ended that you won't have to answer for yourself. Not anymore.

So I beg of you, please tell me what he's specifically correct about, and then tell me WHY he is right, and what led you to this conclusion.

The bold part is what you are guilty of if you have nothing further to add. You would obviously be intentionally trying to illicit a negative response when you tell real Redskin fans that the opposing team's cry baby is 'right' about well, I guess everything since you haven't yet clarified.

I await your brilliant response, and look forward to discussing this matter at great length with you.

In logic and mathematics being specific is vital for clarity and accuracy. Rolle meant to say that IN THE PAST they would have expected to win 9 out of 10 times. Certainly he noticed that the margin of victory was the largest the skins have managed against ANYBODY in years. That the pick six or blocked kick DIDN'T go against us. That this is not the Same Old Redskins.

OH OH! - not a good idea to stir up Boss Hog :)

It really doesn't matter what Rolle thinks - we could win 1 out of a hundred times - as long as that is when it counts

the giants lost the game - maybe they'll get lucky the next time, OR maybe the better team, on that day, will win again
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I hope they keep asking Rolle about us, especially in the week building up to our next game.

Do you know what the Redskins were doing today? No, they weren't mouthing off on a radio station about how they are better than the product they put on the field.

They were working.

Well, Rex wasn't, he was doing the sports talk circut. Sportscenter, PTI, he's a big star now.

Seriously though, Antrell Rolle is an idiot. Close personal friend of the late Sean Taylor and all, he's just not proving himself to be particularly bright. It's good to be confident, to tell yourself and your team that you lost to an opponent you feel you should have beaten... It's saying it to a reporter that's stupid.

Thanks for the bulletin board material pal, I'm sure Grossman will make a habit of working you out next time we play.
