3-4 or 4-3 or whatever type of D

Talk about the Washington Football Team here. Do you bleed burgundy and gold?

3-4 or 4-3 or whatever type of D

Post by tribeofjudah »

Guys, it doesn't matter much about this 3-4 or 4-3.....HECK we look like 5-2 sometimes.

Kerrigan and Rak are standing up on the edges and you have 3 on the A and B gaps. Scheme this and scheme that....who cares anymore.

All I know is..........THIS D IS FOR REAL.....!!!

I heart this defense. On a number of occasions, especially on the 2 fourth down stops, I had that "Oh Sh*&!" feeling in my stomach, expecting them to crumble. . . only to be stunned and happy to watch absolute stuffs. Just wow. . . and we're still without DIRTY 30!

I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

Those big plays were designed for Reed to have to choose which guy he was going to double and it was the QB that always threw to the guy in single coverage. The guy seemed to always be covered by a linebacker. So I would think that next week, if LL can't play, you double the guy who's going to be covered by our linebacker.

On the completion out of the shadow of their own end zone, I was calling Reed all types of filthy names. Upon seeing the replay from a better vantage point, I don't blame him nearly as much. He made a judgment call on which of the 2 receivers his teammate was more vulnerable. About my only gripe is the one you point out, I'd think the tendency would be to help out the 'backer, not the db in that situation. And if he could have just waited another heartbeat or 2 before commiting with his feet, he would have been in a better position to get to either.

^^^^^ I'll say it again, Reed has 3rd or 4th most tackles on this team...year in year out. He's a worker.

He is one of the best tacklers on the team, but he can get burned in pass coverage. He's a hard worker, and he never gives up. It is what it is.

The pass coverage will not get much better with LL in there. He's not exaclty a good cover guy....I thought that was why we brought in Atougwe. I didn't hear his name called to much yesterday.

Atogwe is a FS playing SS until LL gets back. Once LL gets back, Atogwe will move back to FS, and LL will play SS again. You didn't hear Atogwe's name because they were working on Doughty as the weakest link.

Beyond that, in the types of coverage responsibilities that Landry has, his speed will cover most of his mental errors. Had that been Landry making exactly the same moves that Reed made yesterday, he would have been on time to cover.

Q fork lift pushing a medium duty truck in a garage bay.. Not the smartest but less ignorant then while switching lanes at 70

Doughty top 3 in tackles? Year in year out? How long has he been here? Top five would be a shocker.. Fletcher LL. Hall then him?

It will be years before my first thought is NOT: the Redskins are supposed to have Sean Taylor and Laron Landry at safety.

So be it. Reed D. is the best utility guy they could have. He won't be ST, but I don't expect to see anyone else as good as Taylor was, and Taylor was getting better and better.

I haven't had a conversation with my father discussing the redskins defense since his death where one of us didn't mention that very thing or I wasn't thinking it. Its feels selfish, but I can't help it. He was a true franchise player and his influence on LL is unimaginable. The tandem? In my opinion, would have been well on its way to being the best ever by right now.

Really no other way to say this: I miss him.

But as our weakest link he held pretty strong - enough to win ... bend but don't break. Things will be much better with LL in there.

B-can will be back by our Phili matchup.
